topic says it all - hey nbr gamers![]()
it's rough not to be able to use a desktop w/ crt monitor since I had to move.
I've got a 15.4" widescreen 1680x1050 nvidia geforce 7600 go 256mb dedicated
(vsync off, AA/AS etc, quality image) slightly overclocked graphics card - 421/369
* fixed aspect ratio or display adapter scaling?
* CS : black vertical bars on each side? or lose the 5% horizontal on top/bottom? game wasn't made for widescreen - anything that has helped you?
* CS:S - optimized for widescreen.... what are some fps friendly resolutions?
ran the stress test and got slighty over 97 fps after loading CEVO fps config...
-
-
i use my parents 60" hitachi to play toblo lol =]
-
Nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio.
CS: 1400x1050 & black vertical bars.
CS:S IIRC 1440x900 is good for the Go7600. -
CS should easily get 99fps... I keep them default with minimum models...
CS:S, I have the bare minimum settings from the CEVO FPS config - similar to the other CAL League's fps configs... noticed at non-optimized settings (without CEVO fps config) my fps would drop considerably i.e. in above situations.
For my 15.4" w/ fixed aspect
cs 1.6 : 1024x768
cs:s : 1280x800
That's cool man - never tried resolutions on cs greater than 1024x768 in normal mode.
Regarding CS:S, on notebooks, we select the 16:10 ratio instead of 16:9 right?
Alot of settings are preference... but you don't hear much from the notebook league gaming commnity - thanks for the input. -
Yup, 16:10
-
That was super fast odin - I was just re-editing my post with some fps stuff
-
For the FPS stuff, I've never played with a Go7600, so I really couldn't tell you. I play the above fine with an 8600M-GT and a desktop 7950GT.
-
Heh, well those two cards pretty much crush the market
Nice that you have those available!
-
Yeah, though it wasn't so fun before I got them (try playing CS1.6 on Intel Extreme Graphics for Mobile 2)
.

Hehe... odin, ah if only people knew!
CRT is king we know - but do you ever think that LCD fixed refresh @ 60/61Hz notebook gamers can ever get quicker response/reactions? The only thing I can think is getting an external LCD (2ms) with higher refresh rates, at least @75Hz or hook up an external 19" CRT that can push a nice 85Hz-100Hz... -
Well, my current notebook (F8sv) is a "gaming" notebook and runs at 73Hz I believe, which isn't bad at all. If you're stuck with a crappy 60Hz notebook screen though, yeah, I'd recommend just hooking up a pretty good and cheap external when at home.
-
I play at 1440x900 on both my desktop and laptop in CS:S. I OC'ed my 8600m gt to equal my 7900 GT desktop at an average of about 105 FPS with 2xAA 4xAF.
-
Yeah I am trying the 1400x1050 on 1.6 now w/ vertical black bars as a suggested - I'm definitely getting my but handed to me on some deathmatch servers I use to do well on with 1024x768...
I haven't tried the 1440x900 on CS:S yet... was using the 1280x800 which was good....
Yeah, I am thinking of getting a CRT monitor from somewhere - too bad they are so hard to find - and forget about shipping one haha...
Thanks for the replies - hopefully this might help others out too...
Looks like sensitivities have to be adjusted slightly too on the resolution changes...
I use an external keyboard and Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 - that mouse crushed my mx510 -
CSS on my system is at 1440x900 (full res), everything high, between 60FPS to 120FPS, depending on the map. Map's that are REALLY crazy with HDR drop to around 30FPS. 60 is office, while 120 is for most other maps, especially the popular aim_texture style ones found in most gun game servers.
Any widescreen league players for cs or cs:s? resolutions?
