I've read through many topics on how the gameplay on Crysis was nothing new and that the game itself wasn't the draw but rather the graphics, but I really enjoyed this game. Granted I was able to play on all high settings @ 1650x1080, but i thought the gameplay was pretty good. Different enemies, different vehicles, different environments, different weapons all throughout the game and combined with the nano-suit, you can play it almost anyway you want. Story wasn't the best, but not many games are nowadays. I found cloaking yourself and sneakup up on enemies, grabbing them by the throat, switching to strength and throwing them 100 feet was pretty fun! Also, the AI was pretty challenging at times.
Just beat it this morning and felt that it was a very satisfying game and a must buy for any FPS fan. Anyone else really enjoy this game? Your thoughts?

i think this is like the third or fourth thread on this subject.
-
I'm trying to play through it now. I'm finding it a bit dull. Although I do think that it has a lot of potential it's just the game doesn't force or teach how to use everything to your advantage.
I hate to say it but nothing has really grabbed me so far. I had to turn on God mode to keep my interest in the game, otherwise I would've stopped after 5 minutes. -
the minigun and alien minigun were tooo underpowered..... that was a killjoy for me
-
I haven't played the game, but it seems like it is only earning positive comments for the technical achievements of the game. Most reviews haven't had much else to add.
-
It was fun until the aliens came.

I played it, and didn't find it to be much fun... I prefer GRAW2

i think they say it best, it looks good but its nothing special, just like doom 3 was. -
I liked it until the aliens came... thats also where the game starts running horrible.
-
I enjoyed it so far, but I haven't played it in a couple weeks. I have a fair bit of books I'm reading now, some movies to watch, both Gears of War and just recently CoD4 for the PC to go through.
But then again ever since I got it I've only been playing Crysis off and on, despite my enjoyment from it. Actually this thread reminds me that I wanted to go and sell back Orange Box and Crysis since I don't need a disc for OB and can just get a crack for Crysis. That'll get me some quick money. -
Seems to be more of a tech demo for SLi 8800s than anything else, lol.
-
I'm enjoying it even if it is a bit generic. Great destructible environments and somewhat unique abiliities, however I feel the suit's power degrades much too quickly. Fun to play. I've mainly been playing on my laptop since I've been babysitting my newborn and play when he sleeps. I look forward to playing it again on my desktop when time permits with all the graphics cranked up.
-
I surely did NOT. Dumbest AI I`ve ever encountered in a modern days FPS... Also, falling from huuuuge clifs and not dying, that is also a no-no in a realistical game.
But I sure did like to fetish those chickens by throwing them up and about -
Strange I have fell from a steep cliff and died instantly. Though I have more fun with Gears of War, I quickly lay Crysis aside when the aliens came, yep that´s true I love Crysis though the Aliens made the game really boring. Much more fun running around and shooting the koreans in sunny wheather.
-
Aliens sucked...... that ruined it........ i never came accross any tectical amo other than the sleeping thing and incenery ones...... also, i could sit in a trailer and all the koreans would run to me and i just shotty them to death.... big gun fights turned to a pile of bodies at the door.....
-
Hah, seems to be that I'm the only one that truly enjoyed this game the whole way through.
-
Pretty dull game for me too, I thought the jungle was dull looking always looked the same. The water and driving the gun boats was the only fun part, never even moved more than half way through the game.
-
Also, try cranking up the difficulty. It can really add a new spin to it. I also found it fun using the different abilities as once I ran through the entire first half of the game without using one bullet. -
The game had a chance until the aliens came. Then I lost interest.
And I was playing COD4 at the same time. The much better performance of COD4 in my machine and the MUCH MUCH MUUUUUCH better campaign of COD4 killed Crysis for me. -
mEH it wasn't really fun, nothing new just like the graphics/tech stuff...
I also liked COD 4 over Crysis -

How long did it take you guys to beat the game?

Thought Crisis was good, but not great (maybe 7/10). I didn't like the alien fights on and in the island, but strangely, liked most alien fights aboard the aircraft carrier. Hated the ice "escort" level, final boss battle, and abrupt ending.
-
the game shouldn't have ended there.... Ice escort level was my least favorite part of the game.
-
I really enjoyed crysis (good game after all) ; the freedom of choice is nice, but it seemed to me that the freedom ended abruptly when the aliens came...
Anyway, oh and the ending was one of the most disappointing i've ever seen in a videogame... (maybe the story isn't bad at all, but after playing Bioshock or even Call of duty 4, I got the feeling that it was a little uninspired)
PS: hopefully the patch will boost the performance!!! who knows... -
I enjoyed crysis only a bit, i didnt really see the strategy in the game that im used to. I will say that just out of shear awesomeness that this game has very very high replay value, as i play it more than any other game on my pc
What really makes me like this game is the sandbox, dropping in about 50 militants and inventing new ways to slaughter the ai = very cool -
I liked the game, like others are saying, it wasn't anything special. I passed the whole jungle part of the game by basically sneaking aroudn the jungle, so it wasn't so fun. Then when the aliens came, my fps dropped so much I had to play it in 800X600, and even then it was laggy. The last level pissed me off sooo much, there was no strategy to it, just die, try again, die try again, until the last time when you somehow manage to get off enough shots before a random alien blows you up by crashing next to you...

I thought the game was quite fun to play through, besides being known for its notorious hardware requirements. I liked it better than I expected. However, the campaign is not as good as CoD4 in terms of the storyline and intensity. The part where you go into the alien ship was the least favorite part because it was long but not intense. I got tired of floating around shooting the same enemies and getting lost a few times in that ship. I liked the endgame though; it felt like an arcade game/typical sci-fi movie, where after you kill the final boss the game/movie ends, except that the graphics look much better than in an arcade. I didn't think the Bioshock ending was especially inspiring; I thought it dully and abruptly ended the otherwise captivating storyline. I don't think the game deserves to be criticized for the harsh graphics requirement (imagine a few years from now Crysis being very playable with a low end gpu. I bet a lot of people then would say it looks as good as if not better than the games a few years from now) or the AI since it is only released for two months and unpatched.
-
I wonder if they will release an expansion pack or sequel to end the story
Either way, I'm looking forward to it -
I thought the first installment to be lackluster. HL2 did a much better job with storytelling.... -
Wasn't really too amazing. OC'd my card so I could run it at good settings. The jungle looked great... but the gameplay was over-dramatic, and just generic. The Korean "Soldiers" felt like any others, and the aliens felt like something out of a bad Sci-Fi Channel movie...
(Enjoyed Call of Duty 4 A LOT more...) -
Loved until I got to the ice escort mission, that was were I got extremely bored. And the ending.. God the ending "We've got to continue the fight." Pfff so they are basically returning on the island with a passenger that'll instantly freeze once they set foot on it? Riiiiiiight. And the minigun was garbage. So much potential wasted... I hope farcry 2's scenario keep the free roaming until the end.
-
Oh Half Life 2 has the best story telling so far in my opinion, that was one game that really draw me into the immersion of the game and not to talk about the very well done locations in that game. Ah well Crysis is just fun now when you opimize it, just like Oblivion
-
I just got done with one mission in this mine area. It was fun to push the big wire bundles around and squish enemies. Plus sneaking up on tanks and putting explosives on them to blow them up is great fun too. Leading enemies under an overhang only to blow it up by shooting an exploding barrel is great too.
That gauss rifle is the shiznit. But the minigun is way underpowered and none too accurate; it shouldn't take 100 rounds hitting someone 20 feet in front of you to kill them. The bullet spray shouldn't be that great like a shotgun, especially in strength mode. I get more kills with the dual pistols than any machine gun too.
There's definitely some quables in this game, but for the most part it is great fun. -
crysis is the best game i have ever played
-
Yes I really enjoyed it all the way through. Twice.
-
Love it or hate it game by the looks of it, I only tried the demo and hated it.
Hows the multiplayer though? -
hmm, I have Farcry and appreciated the cool graphics, but for some reason it didnt have the longevity to keep me interested. I think it is because the only kind of pc game I have played in the last 8 years or so is FPS (doom, half life, etc) and it gets kind of boring after a while because they are all so similar. Maybe it would be fun if I could go on to multiplayer and dominate, but that doesnt happen. The price of having a job I guess. Anyway, I am hoping to find something new and different - maybe MM RPG such as pirates of the burning sea which i just preordered.
-
I tend to mix up my game playing genres. Flight Simulation, RTS, FPS, and occasional RPG (like Oblivion) that way they never get too stale.
I know they can get too same-same if you play too many of the same type of game. My problem is that if I have a fun game experience, I'll go out and buy two or three of a similar game just to keep the fun going, but I'm usually let down because they're only second rate games. Like with Doom 3 I enjoyed the horror experience, but other games just didn't compare. Same thing with Half-Life 2. So just appreciate the great games, and try something different next time around. -

***SPOILER ALERT***
IF YOU HAVEN'T MADE IT TO THE ALIEN SHIP YET THEN DON'T HIGHLIGHT BELOW TO READ, ALTHOUGH IT SHOULDN'T GIVE AWAY MUCH.
I have been enjoying this game until I got on the alien ship. It's nothing but a confusing mess of corridors and open rooms with no real clear objective what to do or where to go. It wasn't so bad at first, but when you think you're done with all the corridors, you end up with more stupid corridors.
Hopefully it gets better after this? Anyone have good suggestions how to deal with the matrix-like squid that keep annoyingly spawn repeatedly? -
I enjoyed it....look forward to play mods.

Crysis is not as good (or enjoyable) as I expected.
-
Wow, for a game with so many expectations and all the surrounding hype id expect it to be a bit better.
I think ill hold off buying this until its around £20 or so. I dont mind buying a game for full price if it has a decent story and good graphics mixed with challenging AI, but from what i hear this game is a let down.
But then again, over hype a game and it will always be a disapointment. Valve got it right with HL2:ep2 by making Portal the prime piece of news.
And COD4 was a wonderful surprise when it was released.
Over hyping a game kills its market in my opinion. -
Don't get me wrong, it is fun and a welcome change of pace. Just one section of it so far is annoying.
-
COD4 was much much better... and the energy for the nano suit gets over too quickly.. play it like once or twice a week....
-
CoD 4 was fun, but there's no replayability except for multiplayer which is impossible since you get killed 80 times a minute.
