fyi- the 9500 is a rebranded 8600. they are exactly the same.
-
well im hopin the 9500 doesnt have that stuttering issue that has plagued the 8600 series.
-
also ive seen the benchmarks, the 9500 are a litlte bit faster in DX10
-
Only difference between the 2 chipsets if I recall is the manufacturing process, the 9500 is more efficient because of the smaller 45nm.
-
but does anyone know what laptops have em? I see theres an Asus G1Sn but i would like to know when its going to be released

OK while it is not much more than a 8600m GT a 9500m GS is more than just a "rebranded" 8600m GT. To say different, well is just wrong. As mentioned the die-shrink? Expanded instruction set. The ability to handle video decoding that prior to was handled by the CPU. While that does not get me overly excited it is more than just a "rebranded" 8600m GT. Oh did I mention a 10% improvement in gaming frame rates at the same clocks. Less power consumption, that should lower heat. It is what it is, while not exactly a major leap it is a slight advancement.

i def rec you get asus also, great quality and support

the 9500 is almost exactly the same as the 8600, but its cheaper (wierdly enough). and uses less power, ive benchmarked it, and it got nearly identical results in most games, altho it may have just been my drivers, or not, but it ran COD 4/crysis a hell of a lot better (makes sense if the DX10 support is better), when i overclocked it i could easily run crysis on 1280 x 800 with high settings except shaders at about 35FPS steady.

Does the 9500M GS also come in a GDDR3 variant? I've only seen DDR2 ones so far.

The 9500M GS is cheaper due to the die shrink. And while it performs slightly better than a 8600M GT, it is still considered rebadged because it is based off the same G8x core.

GS = weaker version. Wait for the 9650 or something.
Anyone Laptops Sporting the Nvidia 9500m?
