I just got a bad feeling its going to be dumbed down for console users or not as epic as it should be. Also the combat didn't feel very fallout-ish judging by the gameplay videos.

I'm already beyond a bad feeling, denial ,acceptance and disappointment, that way i wont have to deal with that when F3 comes out.

I mean its Bethesda, they keep making there own games worse and worse, and even if this was 100x better then Oblivion it still wouldn't be worthy of licking the dirt from Fallout's feet.

My expectations are so low right now that if F3 was "a post-nuclear pong game" i wouldn't mind ;)

Oblivion was dumbed down cos consoles, HUGE fonts and annoying UI anyone?

I get a bad feeling about every high profile sequel, but most of them turn out fine.

I was skeptical at first, but watching the trailers and gameplay vids on youtube changed my mind a little. I definitely would have prefered a turn based game, but it actually looks very fun to play as it is right now.

but it will be as good as Oblivion - maybe a bit better and that is easily good enough to buy IMO

I don't feel discouraged at all. I mean, sure the game play is very different from the originals but I still think the core is there: awesome storyline and back story, VATS, and Super Mutants! :)

Far Cry 2 didn't get anything above 90% though. It's right where it should be.

As far as Fallout 3 is concerned, I have faith. It's kind of a blend between the two (Shooter/RPG) with the VATS system and all.

all reviews of fallout are high. A few even perfect, 10 of 10 for the xbox version.

I loved oblivion and fallout is much larger according to an interview i read.

I dont have a bad feeling at all I expect it to be the best game ever.

It's an RPG, but people have turned away from turnbased games (I'll admit that although I loved FO2, the gameplay was tedious until you got decent accuracy and criticals).

I honestly think that, from the gameplay videos at least, this game will be absolutely epic, it looks like they've been able to keep the feel of Fallout, but put it in an exciting platform... I actually really like what they've done with the combat.

Mind you, the plot has yet to be judged by anyone, and that's incredibly important in a fallout game IMO... We'll see.

From what I've seen, I think I'll love this game... Y'know, assuming I can run it at half-decent specs ._.

"We'll see" is all I can say. I recently bought Fallout 2 from GOG and am playing through it; it's great thematically but the combat is a bit tedious at best. And as for Bethesda, well I played (briefly, until I got fed up with it) Oblivion and I concur with Yahtzee: "It's by Bethesda, patron saints of games that look great in screenshots and preview videos but ultimately play like bowls of scummy dishwater."

Why do you say things you know will hurt me?

Seriously though, I can't comment on bethesda as a company beyond "I loved morrowind, and from the 5 hours of oblivion I've played so far, (yes, with the streamline patch, but I'm a pragmatist), I love the way they've changed the combat and skill systems compared with Morrowind"

But I wouldn't worry bout tedious combat in fallout 3, if the descriptions/vids of the VATS/FPS system are anything to go by you'll be able to keep things exciting...

first time i installed morrowind i quit it after i walked into the first cave by the village and witnessed the 'combat'

i dont think ive ever played a game before that or since with such a pathetic combat system

fallout 3 combat is what's going to kill it IMO, no ironsights, no swappable weapon parts, ammo types? lean function? prone?is there an inventory box? we all know the usual suspects of a console game now; but maybe they'll surprise me

way i see it, worse than fallout 2 but not so bad you cant play it through once and enjoy it; anyone remember the part in fallout 2 where you can make the guy cut off his pinky finger to seal the deal and then tell him to eat it? or being able to copulate with Bishop's wife AND daughter (while injecting drugs)(and rob his safe afterwards)? the pimps and hookers offering you *** and drugs in new reno? being able to star in porno films or become a prize boxer or a gangster? that was good gameplay ^_^

there is no way in hades that fallout 3 can match what fallout 2 did, not even with the prettiest graphics in the world

In my view of the game, you should look at this as it's own game, completely forget the fallout branding. This is far from the origional game. It's like this with many other game sequals these days. If you look at this game, and try to compare it with the other ones, you'll be looking strait for it's faults, and you'll critisize it so badly because it isn't like the other one. Instead I think you all should just treat the game as a brand new franchize and I believe you'll enjoy it alot more. I look forward to giving this game a full run through, it does look like a hell of alot of fun, and it'll be out in only 2 days, 21 hours!

if a game calls itself fallout 3 i am definitely going to compare it with fallout 2 and i will criticize it bitterly if it doesnt live up to past standards (which it wont, its almost impossible IMO for bethesda to make something as gritty and real as fallout 2)

There is FPS combat in Fallout 3, its just really like point and shoot basics similar to mid-1990s shooters.

Then there is the VATS system, where you can choose a body part to aim for and a hit % is displayed on each. Then you watch an animation of your guy shooting and the bad guy eventually dying.

My main worry is the combat. Because the VATS system is going to get tediously annoying to do after about the 10th guy you've killed with it. Seriously, how mainly arm blowing off action scenes can one watch. So you'll switch over to standard combat mode which is basically point and click (no prone, no lean, no iron sites, no crosshair, just point and click). This is supposed to be a long game, longer than oblivion...how long will it be until the novelty of the cool weapons wears off and you realize how weak the combat actually is?

Cause im not gonna lie, judging by the gameplay videos combat looked dumb and the A.I. looked dumber. Story/Graphics looked awesome though.

The game itself was leaked two weeks ago for X360, and since I've got a flashed X360 I decided to try it out.

It's good. It's really good. It really is like post-apocalyptic Oblivion. And since I loved Oblivion, I'll enjoy this game. =]

I have a bad feeling, but I just pre-purchased Fallout 3 on Steam anyways. The reason I have a bad feeling is because I know it's going to be a lot like Oblivion, and be just as streamlined for console gamers. But I still think I will thoroughly enjoy it, since I'm headed in with MUCH lower expectations than I did when I bought Oblivion at launch (with my 360 :) ). The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was and still is one of my top 3 games of all time. Oblivion, in comparison, felt extremely dumbed down and lacking in depth. However, I still spent several hundred hours in Oblivion and it would be a flat out lie to say I didn't like the game (I loved it for the first ~80 hours or so, after which its flaws became more and more apparent; whereas Morrowind only became more enjoyable after the first 100 hours). So, this time around I'm just expecting a fun game with an interesting world and characters. If the story is solid, and it has some fun quests, I'll definitely say I'll get my money's worth. If not, it surely won't be my worst purchase of all time.

look.. anyone that is pre-purchasing the game doesnt have a BAD FEELING, just some anxieties, a bad feeling means you arent willing to be the first to buy the game at the very least; if i said i had a bad feeling about diablo3 but then ran out and preordered it for $50 thats a bit contradictory no?

thats great but does not address his concerns

a game can be hard, long and with a big environment and be a dumbed-down console port at the same time, they are not mutually-exclusive options, just look at far-cry 2, im about 3% into the game and bored to tears, oblivion i was bored of after 30 minutes after realizing they recycled the same dungeon textures over and over

    Well in your case.
Yes Fallout 3 will not be fun for you.
Area are about the same but with the vats system you can mix up any which way you want.
Also with tons more option in speech. and the karma affect.
It makes the game difference from oblivion.
The layout is basicly the same.
Quest> Enemy's> Item you have to get > go back.
    Over and over.
    But I love that fact.
Textures are reuse alot but you have to over look that.
Ammo is hard to come by so is bed's.
    Tons of enemy's.
Pick lock's is different yet about the same.
Hacking computer I will admit is just bad.
    tons of weapons.
No fast travel vehicle ( AKA Horse in oblivion)
    TOns of walking.
Anymore questions be willing to answer about Fallout 3 Or Gears of War 2

I thought oblivion was a godlike game. I mean, the best thing I've played since morrowind... and that's saying a lot because im a recovering WoW addict. Looking at reviews, and gameplay vids, this looks like unreal tournament 3 meets oblivion, which can't be bad at all. I'm definately getting this one.
