I am installing the game right now and it's going at a snails pace. I started installing it about 15 minutes ago and it's only about 15% done. It doesn't sound like the dvd drive is spinning at all.

It takes a pretty long time to install. Is this going on the laptop in your sig?
-
Mmm...agree took forever and a day to install.

yes, unfortunatley this is going on the computer in my sig. Somebody else posted some screens of the game running on low settings. It doesn't look like total crap, but it sure as heck doesn't look good either. If I can't get a decent framerate, I'm gonna sell it to my friend. I was able to run Crysis on this system OK. The graphics weren't good, but they weren't so bad that they detracted from the experience and the framerate was pretty consistent and playable.
Besides my GPU, I'm slightly above all of the minimal settings, but there's no way of knowing how it will work until it's installed. It would be nice if there was some kind of software compatability regulatory comittee that would give us a clear definition of what "minimal requirements" means so that we wouldn't have to do this trial by fire stuff. "minimal requirements" should mean that you can run the game on lowest settings with a framerate consistently above 20fps. System configurations that can't run a game like such shouldn't be allowed on the box. Then maybe developers would have more incentive to allow their games to scale back on older systems. -
I would not be too concerned.... if you played Crysis this game will run.
The long install time is because of the 5400RPM drive. Give it some time (actually, quite a bit of time).
Lastly... quicksave often. The game seems to crash a fair amount, at least for myself and my co-workers. -
Problems with the uninstaller? No. But crashes with the game? Yes!!!

Just fired it up. So far so good. I've only gotten to the birthday scene and while the game doesn't look jaw dropping amazing, it still looks good. Framerate is a bit jittery when you have alot of people in a room, but nothing terrible. I have to go help a friend of mine get ready for a party but I'll let everyone know how the rest of the game works when I get around to it.

Anyone else have problems with the fallout 3 installer?
