I don't know but there is just something about the game. I'm on the "jet-ski" level which seems to be too long and there isn't enough action in the game. I enjoyed F.E.A.R. much more, which I actually played twice.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Play COD4,it's action packed.
BF2 is still my fav though -
Team Fortress 2 for Multiplayer.
Call of Duty 4 for single player.
-
Half-Life 2 is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever, i guess it just isn't your game. I haven't played FEAR so i can't compare.
-
AAAH OMGGZZ Hl2 OWNS PWNZORZ AALLL :LSAKFJ:SLFK
TWAS BEST SERIES EVERRZZ
-HL2 fanboy -
yeah i thought it was an mediocre game at best, nothing really stuck out to me...
-
You guys are lacking patience. What, 6 hours to finish a game is cool? Play COD4 and finish it fast then.
HL2 has a longer story that packs a lot of Sci-Fi elements.
And has 3 episodes to play,(the 3rd should pop up later this year). -
i played it on 360. i enjoyed it.
-
I hated the game for the longest time.
You just need to buckle down and beat it, and not on easy.
Then play the two episodes, and you will find yourself engulfed. -
Played Half Life 2 game straight through start to finish in two sessions a couple years ago on the PC and I have to say that it was, and for the most part still is, one of the best gaming experiences I've had. It was plenty long and just always had you doing different things. As soon as one thing got old something new was introduced. It didn't pound you over the head with action but the non-combat parts weren't boring. Overall I found it to be a very well rounded game that got retarded at the end in terms of story, but whatever. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan but it's something everyone has to experience.
I played episode 1 and 2 in the orange box on 360. These games kept the same feeling and they nailed it for the most part. They lose some minor marks just because the first one was revolutionary (in my opinion). Episode 1 was definitely the low point among all 3 games. Episode 2 had some really cool parts and was just long enough for my liking.
That's just my $0.02, though. -
Good 2 cents right there.
The fact that the story is continued through the episodes and newer elements always show up make me give it a 9/10 . -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
im pretty sure you guys are the only ones. everyone else loved it. of course, if your playing it today, you have to keep in mind its several years old now.
-
I loved it as well....i can see sometimes why you wouldnt, but I rele just couldnt get enough of it.
-
Half life 2 is okay, but episodes 1 + 2 added so much to the experience.
-
Wouldn't say I don't like it, but never found it as good or as interesting as everyone else seemed to do - just didn't immerse me....though I did like Half Life original an awful lot.
What is the ultimate story driven FPS? Anyone? I've played Bioshock, brilliant at first, but then dwindled off. I've played COD4, same story - moderately interesting at first but descends into a boring-ish shoot em up very quickly.
I want to play something entirely storyline driven, with lots of talking, plot etc....not just samey shoot this, shoot that, go here, do that, do this. Something....very interactive. Alive!
I've been playing Jericho lately and it seems a bit interesting but I know it'll get boring and feel like a standard FPS in a very short time... -
Well depends on how much you want to stretch the definition of a FPS. If your fine with adding some character tweaking/rpg stuff. There are games like; System Shock 1-2, Stalker, Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines (it can be played in FP-mode and with just guns basically through the whole thing).
-
i probably would not know ever for my whole life since everytime i play a half life game i get headaces and need to throw up
-
not like Half-Life? no way... come on...
maybe this trailer will change your perception about the game:

But back on topic, I find half life 2 a breath of fresh air to most FPS, theres actually alot of story telling and its incoporated in subtle and interesting ways. But you'll really have to believe the story and get involved with the characters to notice. In many ways i feel more attached to the characters in this game than any other fps i came to play.
I cant wait for half life 2 episode 3, its gonna be an exciting closer to the series, and since its been under development for so long, its gonna be good. =D -
And it's excruciating long, but I definitely should be at the end of it. I've played on 3 different occasions, probably an hour each, and still haven't finished.
I know most developers leave people wanting a lot more in "driving" missions, but wow this is too much. I've seriously lost interest in finishing the hovercraft sequence.
I hope there's more human interaction afterwards? All the soloing is pretty boring. -
I didn't think the hovercraft part was too long...
I just got it and I think its great, though I do hate the antlions... -
I think those of us who were around when HL1 came out and gobbled it up were more prone to enjoying HL2, especially after Doom3 came out, which I never had the patience to finish.
HL2 gave me an engaging and interactive storyline to work within, it also introduced physics done well. Anyone remember how absolutely GROUND BREAKING the gravity gun was? People spent months talking about a SINGLE WEAPON. Valve was way ahead of the curve with HL2, it was not until I played COD4 that I felt the same level of immersion in an FPS.
Actually, come to think of it, I was probably most immersed in the Halo games, but that was because I read all of the books and used a bit of imagination.
I've got some advice regarding immersion. A game will only immerse you as far as you'll let it. Actively getting into a game can bring the level of interaction and enjoyment WAY up. Then again, if the game is buggy or not well done, it'll rip that immersion right out from under you. We teach our kids to use their imaginations and think critically at the same time. Seems that as adults we barely remember to think critically, and almost all of that imagination gets shelved.
Ever wonder why you remember enjoying certain games as a kid so much more than enjoy games now? IMAGINATION! (cue SpongeBob). -
half-life is my favourite game, so i may sound biased, but i think the level of immersion in half-life has been amazing, i played half-life 1 all that time ago, before i was even in double figures of age, and played half-life 2, and was astounded, now ive played the episodes, and i still cant help it, i love half-life quite simply.
i play all sorts of games, from RTS, to RPG to FPS, but i just cant get rid of half life, i play it every other week or so, and simply cant wait for episode 3, since half-life 2 i hadnt felt anything close to it in immersion, until i played oblivion, oblivion ticked off a lot of things that half-life had, then i got bored after 150+ hours.
so im hoping episode 3 is just as good as all the rest. -
HL2 is on every computer I own ( and the ol' 360 to hehe )
simply the best gamin experience I have every had -
Loved Half-Life, bugged my parents to buy our first computer so we could play it. Played through Half-Life 2, Ep1 and Ep2. It just didn't engage me as much as other games of the time did.
Anyone else not like Half-Life 2?
