I'm buying a laptop pretty soon, its a Dell 15R special edition, the thing that made me want to buy is its Full HD screen and the i7. It comes with a 7730M graphics card, and I was wondering how does this handle games? It's the only laptop I could find with FHD and 1080p resolution. I had an ASUS k43sv before this, came with a GT540, preforms amazingly at 1366x768, the drivers from nvidia imporved it A LOT over the year I used it, an average of 30%+ fps increase per game.

How is your experience with 7730?

EDIT: I don't rely on benchmarks, they are very differing from a laptop to another, and given the experience with the 540M, it proves how wrong they could be

It's reportedly much faster than my 5830m, which runs nearly every game I've tried at 1080p, usually with most settings maxed except MSAA. Witcher 2 runs like crap however, I had to reduce to 720p for that game.

Thanks for the reply! Do every game include the very recent ones like far cry, ac3 and borderlands 2? How is performance on direcrtx 11?

The 7730M apparently is only present in the dell 15r, i have yet to find any solid review for this card from soemone who actually used it extensively

Far Cry 3 lags a little during some cutscenes but otherwise runs great at 1080p on my 5830m, haven't tried AC3 or Borderlands 2. Most games seem to run better on DX11 mode, as there are some optimization features.

Other recent games I've tried that run fine at 1080p:

    Sniper Elite V2
    Mass Effect 3
    Dishonored
    CS:GO Beta
    Skyrim
    RAGE
    Arkham City
    Hard Reset
    Deus Ex HR
    DOTA 2
    TF2
    Fallout: New Vegas
    Game of Thrones
    Dragon Age 2
    Bulletstorm

AMD drivers are a joke (bsod with my hd5650 which is technicly barely the same that the hd6630 and also the hd7610)..
I recommand NVIDIA, look at far cry 3: still slow until now !! amd is unable to provide stable drivers while nvidia reacted right after the release of the game !

News flash Nvidia drivers are not that much better. If anything i find ATI drivers much better. example i play wow on my GTX 660m crashes every now and then i play it on my A10 with a HD 7660g and never had one crash
