I can't get Battlefield 2 to run on Vista 64 bit, even making sure to install as administrator and disabled UAC.

Anyone have success and suggestions? Thanks.

right click on the BF2.exe or shortcut and run the game under XP SP2 compatibility mode.

I did that too, no go. Just screen goes blank like it's gonna start, screen resizes, then it CTD's back to desktop as if it never existed.

it might be refresh rate issue.

run the game in window mode to see if that works.

    Example:

    Default for fullscreen mode
    "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

    For windowed mode
    "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

if it works in windowed mode, then you will need to edit your config file to set the refresh rate to your LCD's corresponding refresh rate.

Oh man, thanks Gophn. I was aware of the less than 60Hz issue, but my refresh is at 62Hz, so had to set it to that and it works!

    Thanks man...

    glad it worked.

the first BF games are finicky with any other refresh rates other than 60Hz.

I don't have any issues. All I had to do was have it automatically run with administrator rights, and it work's all nice and dandy.
