That would be the coolest thing ever. World of Starcraft!![]()
It would be great if some MMORPGS incorporated an "FPS" spin into the gameplay. I heard Tabula Rasa tried this but didn't do it really well.

If Blizzard made a World of Starcraft , I don't see how it would be any different than WoW. it would be the same game mechanics, same redundant mind numbing leveling, same gear (loot) based game that WoW is. Only the lore and graphics will be different.
Blizzard has 10 million ppl hooked on WoW, do you honestly think they will deviate that much from the proven and highly successful WoW model if they made another MMO? -
me and a bunch of people here in the dorms are addicted to it. I love the game but i'm suspending my account in order to make sure that my grades don't slip.

The thing that annoys meabout WoW and all modern mmorpgs is the monotony, the levelling, quests, loot.... yawn. The only part I really find interesting is roleplaying.
That's why UO was the ultimate MMORPG. No levels, few quests, just a great big world filled with lots of opportunities and a game guide that basically reads "do whatever the hell you want". -
WoW sucks. The only MMO i find fun is GW so i am waiting for GW2.
WoW is repetitve as hell. All the quests are the same. There is no plot and dont give me that u need to play to lvl 60 to really experience the game. Then put that in the manual that u need to play for 1000+ hours to finally experience the real "excitement" of the game. The game is solid but it gets old fast to anyone who has something beter to do w/ their time. -
after that, i realised i can have more fun in real life...........and that there are many more fps's that focus on pvp and are much easier to just pick up and put down. gaming sucks when you spend more time gaming then sleeping. -
I HATE WOW!!!! anf at our lan parties, where WOW used to be outlawed, now that is all any one plays!!!!!! NO OTHER GAMES!!!I HATE WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
haha, at our lans all online games are not allowed.
-
WoW has never been appealing to me, XBL>WoW. The concept is just boring. I have a lot more friends in my high school with 360's so I play XBL.
-
if WoW has over 10 million subscribers, doesn't that say something about what MMO should be? i don't understand why people keep trying to define or redefine the game mechanics of MMORPG. level grinding and loot accumulation has been the staple of MMO ever since MMO was popularized to the masses by EQ. don't like it? 10 million will say otherwise. like oblivion better? that same 10 million may also think otherwise as well. now i don't know about you but last i checked a lot more people preferred WoW over oblivion. meaning as of now, blizzard is serving a lot more happy gamers than bethesda is -regardless of which game is supposedly 'better.' so next time you start to ponder gee what's so great about WoW, there are 10 million out there thinking the same about whatever the game you're into.
-
I played WoW for a while, pre Burning Crusade, killed Illidan....then I sold my account...came back after burning Crusade, got a mage to 70, and shaman....got up to Mount Huyjal and quit for good...it's just too repetitive and boring for me now.
-
I couldn't even get past the free trial of WoW, it bored me. Who wants to bring back fifteen bloody feathers/whatever the NPC wants this time every time they get a quest?!
-
I refuse to play anymore, personally. It's a time sink and devoid of any real sense of accomplishment.
I did the grind to Warlord on my feral druid before TBC, and then enjoyed Off tanking in end game instances... but after a while it struck me as repetitive and lacking in any real change in content. Once you get in to a serious raiding guild, the game just becomes easy. SSC opens... 8 days later we've full cleared it and it's on farm status. That's fun? No... it's more like work.
I have a job, I don't need a second one that pays in "nothing". -

Planetside is the best and only true MMOFPS game.
Hard to replicate, I doubt Huxley will fill its shoes. -

WoW... I played it for a total of 4 hours about 3 years ago, then quit until last month, then played it for 11 hours, got to level 14, and while having the charactor on auto walk for about 20 minutes every 2 minutes, I was incredably BORED. The whole game was just 98% walking to a destination, then 2% watching the game fight for you as you do nothing and watch, then 0.00001% messing with stats/weapons/skills.
And, that reminded me why I hate all MMORPGs as they're all the same thing, basically. No real story line, you just watch as the pc plays the lame game for you, after you point the screen in the right direction, and there's zero skill in the game, as once again, it plays for you, just do about 3 clicks of the mouse, and watch for several hours and you slowly decay (in real life) -
Downed a dragon, 18k heal, woohoo
WoW is fun at times, as long as you don't make it into work. My guild is pretty cool, we chat for hours about random stuff when we aren't playing(We log onto vent anyways). As they say, 30% of the game is leveling to 70, then the game really starts there. -
-
Ahhhhhh!!!!!!11!!
High resolutions hurt my eyes....
So is it kinda like CoD4 where almost everyone has a 55, and after that the game really starts. Prestige could be considered like that, IDK. -
some friend convinced me to get the demo so i did, and I played it for a few hours or so (over a few days) and i found it so boring. I could see how it gets addicting, just not for me.
-
WoW like all the other MMORPG out there, is basically a repeat of "Grinding", for those who are unfamiliar with the term; Grinding means the act of repleating tasks such as completing quests, leveling up by killing monsters, and acquiring new skills, especially the leveling aspect.

One thing I did enjoy when I played WoW was writing mods for use in the game. It was fun coming up with stuff and playing around with it. It's the first MMO that actually encourages modding. I found myself spending more time tinkering with the mods than actually playing.
I did get to 70 eventually tho and as far as the game starting at 70 it didn't really apply in my case. I found the game stagnated at 70. Raiding bores me -90% of the time is spent waiting or running from point A to point B and for what? A piece of purple that everyone goes crazy over...that comes off a dragon that your guild has on farm status. Lvl 70= FARMING! that's not fun. Plus I see ppl raid who spent literally all their free time on it and more. Their entire life revolves around the game basically.
I did like battlegrounds pvp but only problem with that is there's only 3 or 4 maps. The best thing about Battlegrounds is I can play it for 30mins at a time and log off which is how I like it. But the limited maps get old fast. Imagine playing CoD4 or TF2 and the game only comes with 3 maps. So if you don't like raiding there's 3 pvp maps to play on that you pay $15/mth for...gg Blizzard. -
I played knight online for a few months...which is basically a free version of wow if you didnt know (with the option to pay, and paying customers get a few bonuses over free ones). Anyways, it was the first mmo that i ever played. I had held off because i was afraid of getting addicted. I had to many friends in highschool get addicted to diablo 2 and other games so i didnt want it to be me. Well, long story short i started playing ko just to see and got hooked fast. The game consumed my life for those few months. It to a point though that it was so repetitive that it got boring. It would take a week straight of 8+hours playing to move up a level. And moving up that level did next to nothing for your character.
I found the leveling in the beginning to be fun but after that it was dumb. I picked up the game a few weeks ago and didnt last 15 minutes in it. I couldnt see what i found initially fun it in anymore. -
Ive been playing WoW for over 3 years now, before i started the game all i ever played were shooters. My clan buddies all picked up WoW and suddenly i had nobody left to frag with so i decided to give it a go and level up with them. At first i thought like most people here that it was quite boring and slow but it grew on me and by the time i reached 60 i was completely hooked. I've been into hardcore raiding (5 nights/week from 18.30-->23.30) and did lots of pvp on the side, needless to say this demolished my social life
. Nowadays i pve moderately and mainly do arena with some bg's whenever a couple of mates are up for it. Since i've played both types of games quite intense i personally don't think one type of game takes more "skill" then another, it's just different mechanics. Shooters are all about map knowledge, reflexes, anticipating opponents and off course a fast and steady aim. WoW is all about class knowledge (not only the one you play but every class in game), moderately about reflexes, micro/macro management, learning boss encounters (end game pve) and farming(experience/reputation, gold, reagents, honor).
Both types can be described in a very simplistic manner :
-shooters : run+point+click repeat
-mmorpg : run+click+click+click repeat
Neither is a true representation of what it's like to play those types of games but that's how most people that are hooked on either type see the other.
I just love both types -
well college started out normally for me... hanging out and such. I hang out with people that weren't who you would expect to play WoW, or video games for that matter. things were normal until everyone i hang out with including me signed our souls over to WoW. Funny thing is, I haven't lost my social life... we're all in a guild and play in the same room usually (there are like 15 of us). Instead of chilling in the hall being bored we quest together.
-
Love the log in/log off aspect of BGs. I dont have the reflexes for fps's online either (getting old), so I like that aspect to. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
why do people buy a game then willing pay each month to play it?
i have to say WoW looks like the most boring game i have ever seen -
I play Guild Wars whenever time/finacee/work lets me. I find it decently fun.

You do get regular content updates+revisions and stable servers in return for your monthly fee. Of course i'd rather not pay a monthly fee but as i've seen the game grow and progress over the last 3 years i don't feel like it's a total waste.
Just my 2 cents -
Considering I have 350+ hours over the last 2.5 years in Battlefield 2 and paid $40 for original plus another $70 total for expansions, I figure I got my money's worth. A little over $100 for 350 hours of entertainment. I call that inexpensive. Now WOW on the other hand is $180 / year x 2.5 = $450.

Hehe actually I got the names mixxed up, I meant kel'Thuzad in naxxramas. Illidan is in black temple...but I never got that far. -

We have been droping Illdan for awhile
Very annoying NPC when you hit him he makes the worst "oww" noise
-
If ya want a real mmo and a nice one get Lotr
.I played wow for 2.5years and had a high end paladin but now blizzard just messed up there game and its as bad as runescape...lotro is much much better.
Well if you want some future mmos dont bother getting warhammer get age of conan if you want more exiting action on both and mmo and an fps view -
-
When it first came out I and some friends tried it.
It was ok... but there were two or three real classes and everyone else only existed to get those classes gear and make them even more unstoppable. (hunter or rogue)
I am sure much has changed including an expansion, but quite frankly the gameplay, balance, and even ugly graphics still added up to a moderately playable game.
The community was the problem and what made it intolerable for me.
I just couldn't stand to stay in a world where the average mental age was in single digits and I couldn't repeatedly PK the people who so desperately needed it.
I stopped playing WoW shortly after trying it and went to Lineage2.
An INFINITELY better player base and community despite the lesser game mechanics.
BTW, the maintained community is why I would pay my $10-15/month. -
I used to be massively into WoW and spunked huge numbers of hours down the drain on it.
And it occurred to me... What am I doing? I'm not making any progress in RL! (Real Life for non-MMO players)
Now I play BF2/2142. Probably a little too much... Badges. Medals. UNLOCKS! RAWK!
Haha! I think I beat my addiction though. I'm a little too busy to be playing games too much these days...
*Sigh* -
Hehe, this could have been written by me! =)
Such is the way of the gaming addiction!
Anyone here NOT enjoy playing World of Warcraft (WoW)?
