Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone ever played Mankind? It was a RTS MMO. I heard it had major issues a few years back, then got bought by a new company. Its kinda being redone now, people are starting to play it again.
I quit playing it a fair few years ago when they brought in the 10,000 unit limit per player.
Was an awesome game, really engrossing. You basically started off with a little ship, and some money, and you had to build up mining bases, start mining ores to ship back to a station to sell and get money.
As you got more money, you'd then start a city, and go on from there. The universe was simply huge, heaps and heaps of planets to colonise. An excellent player economy with its own website set up for business (biznet). Excellent game, was taking too much of my time up, especially when I started getting involved with how the universe was being shaped.
Anyone here play/used to play this game?

Sounds sort of neat, but I have never heard of it, I'll go check it out.
Ever heard of Beyond Protocol? It is coming out sometime this year and is one of those off the wall MMO types with everyone starting out with a single planet and trying to take part of the universe. -
Beyond Protocol eh? Sounds like its worth a look!
Apparently Mankind is back up and running. People are starting to get back into it. Dunno how good it will be now though.
Originally there was no cap on how many buildings/ships you could have. Some people had huge empires with literally more than a million ships. Staggering really. When to clan's went to war, they encompassed hundreds of planets and millions of ships. Very costly!!!
Great game, pity the developers had problems, I think they went bust? -
Yah I used to play it. It was the greatest MMO I have ever played. Although you had to do everything (And I mean everything...) it was great. Spent hours trading threw systems and building up on the outer rims while searching for gold and protecting your valuable minerals. I built the 3rd largest trade district on the eastern side of the galaxy about 3 jumps from the Neutral zone $). I was very sad that fateful day when I couldn't log in.. So very sad.. Then I jumped to Anarchy-Online for about 4 or 5 years.

I've signed up for beta on Beyond Protocol. There's a pretty good write up on the game in Beckett's Massive Online Gamer magazine.
Do you mean "Face of Mankind"?
A couple of other sci-fi MMOs that I'm keeping an eye on are:
Black Prophecy
Jumpgate: Evolution -
No, not the face of mankind.
-
Keep us posted Signal2Noise, I want to see how you like Beyond Protocol.

Yes please, very very interested.
Anyone here ever play the MMO Mankind?
