Just as the title asks, does anyone on this forum play the f2p mmorpg Lord of the Rings: Online?? I was going to play it when I first heard that it was going from pay 2 play to free 2 play but I lost interest in rpg games the past few months. Now im bored and im just wondering if this is a good game and is it really free? i mean like do you still have to pay to "upgrade membership" to unlock the most basic things (More quests, skills etc) like in other mmorpgs??
Anyways if anyone here plays LOTRO Online or have played it, please give me your opinion on the game. :D

I played it, and would be playing it more if my darn stubborn friends and wife would join me. It really is pretty decent for F2P, you won't feel limited unless you start playing it more than just casual. Your inventory, bank space, and money limit are capped but not to the point where you are crippled. There are a few premium classes you can't pick on a free account, but there is plenty to choose from. I definitely think it is worth the download, LOTRO is a pretty polished game for the F2P platform.

Ditched it after level 18, after a certain point an account makes it a lot more fun and easy. I would give it a try but I lost interest.

just started playing it, from what I can gather its completely free till level 20. Then you need to earn Turbine points or pay a subscription for content. I believe you can grind turbine points, but not sure how fast this happens etc, im only lvl5 right now =)

You should be ok for a couple weeks, but you can reach 20 pretty quick if you wanted to.

I reached about level 6-7 and got bored. Its still on my lappy, but I don't play it anymore. Its pretty decent for an f2p, but my problem is the feeling that if you've played one you've played them all... All mmo's nowadays feel like a copy of wow (which yes, is based on EQ, I know...)
I'm sure its quite decent once you get past the beginning, but another session of hours killing bears and pigs was something I wasnt willing to put up with... :)

So I'm patiently waiting for SW:TOR, and hoping that it doesnt let me down :)

It looks awesome; even if it fails as an MMO it will still be great as a single player rpg for sure, so they will at least get the few months of subscription it takes me to play through most of the classes :)

I played for 6-7 levels but got bored pretty quickly. Maybe because I chose a very low population server and there weren't enough people around to get a sense of community. I still have it installed so I will probably try it again now and then.

Only MMO's that ever kept my interest was WoW and STO.

Nah F2P versions do not do it at all. I played LOTRO already a few years back, and have got a paid European account. It's much much different than the likes of F2P; you get free goodies and things in F2P...so no hard work done, while we paid customers have to deal with more things, and the privelage of playing PVP which is amazingly fun infact. Now I'm retired from it...I still log in from time to time though

    Sauron's armies will rule!!
