haha I know that I've been making many threads like this one but it is my natural instinct to ask other people about a game before buying it. Anyways I heard mixed reviews on this game and I was just wondering if it's worth it for only like $3 on steam right now
-
average...
-
it is a lot worse tha supreme commander and forged alliance as they have dumbed it down
That said I still enjoy it and play it regularily. I would say its easily worth $10 let alone 3$ -
I thought supcom was dumbed down compared tot total annihilation, haven't seen supcom2 yet
-
I have it, played it for a few minutes (tutorial
) and never got back to it due to laziness and boredom
-
I despise that game. I tried it and found it to be one of the most boring RTS games I've ever played. The first was way better
-
Ye I own it and I hardly ever play it. Better games I would rather use time on.
-
I really hope Taylor sees what happened here and goes back to the original formula. I still play Forged Alliance regularly online.
-
I just want an RTS game that has epic sized multiplayer battles
How is Forged Alliance?? How big is the player base??
-
I bought it for the $3 or so. Figured it's worth $3 for a look at least.
-
that's why i stay away from RTS games all together.. I find all of them boring!
Panther214 -
Bought it for $3. Haven't really played it yet, though. I've been looking for an RTS that I can thoroughly enjoy playing online for hours like I used to with Red Alert 2 and C&C Generals.
Which is why I also bought Red Alert 3, but sadly it does not measure up to previous C&C titles and has barely anyone playing it online anymore. -

red alert 3 was really fun a long time ago, picked it up for a few dollars on steam. last good c&c game as far as i'm concerned.
anyway, everyone is playing sc2 now. -
Wasn't it dumbed down because it was multi platform? I did love and still play the first one and Forged Alliance tho.
-
I really really really really (really really) really want a C&C Generals sequel. I love that game even today. It's one of the few older RTS's that I play on a regular basis along with a few of my friends. Too bad there's no official no-CD patch, but I've (ahem) circumvented that.
All the other C&C games have become too arcade for me. -
yeah, I agree on both. The RA3 support attacks thing is just plain stupid, IMO. It never balanced out, and the game was generally hinged on the empire having a small or large map (since it was either extremely weak or extremely strong based on this).
Though the better SC2 (Starcraft
) does the balance range rather well
-
I also agree with this. I could play Generals all day long without getting bored. That game was truly enjoyable. I'll have to get back online sometime and see if anyone's still out there.
I even tried playing RA2 online a few months back and there's more people playing that than I found on RA3 a few days ago. Considering that RA2 is seven years older than RA3, I think that says something about the quality of RA3. -
Again, thanks to consoles. Most console games last maybe six months with an active online audience, many much less. They're designed to make their buck with "shock and awe" then it becomes boring rather quickly. There's rarely ever any depth to it. Halo is about the only game that has a super long online life in the world of consoles.

I think it says more about the quality of RA2 than RA3. Of course, RA3 wasn't *great* - it was fun for a while, and very cheesy and had good humor (attack dolphins, attack blimps - great stuff)
Halo has a super long online life in terms of consoles i suppose... about as long as call of duty. The online community moves with the game releases...
I guess halo used to have a longer lifespan, with halo 2, for example. Halo 3 had 2 years, and it recently turned into a yearly thing. Compare that with valve games... TF2. oh man. 3 years and hot. -
Supreme commander 2 was ok, but if you really likes Supreme commander 1 and Forged Aliences you'll probably be put off by 2.
they removed a lot of the good things like large maps and huge armies and the number of different units that you can build.
But for 3 buck its probably worth it, I've bought far worst games for much more money. -
Lol.... you don't want to see the Steam forums with SupCom2 fanbois arguing how they maps really are the same size o.0
Anyone here play Supreme Commander 2?
