I still have a level 10 or so guy on Prophecies. Moved onto AoC now. Ruining the little life that I have left.

All you have to do is buy one of the first three. Only Eye of the North is an expansion. The rest are stand-alones.

You don't need all of them. I only have Prophecies and Fractions and it can be played without any missing features.

I have seen some 14 days trial sets for 3-4€ around, so you should try that one.

ive played GW for nearly 3 years now, excellent game if you don't want to pay a monthly fee but still have the quality of a pay to play game. If you like mindless grinding for levels then you shouldn't bother since the cap is 20(allowing you to get into PvP, the real fun part). I'd suggest you buy either nightfall or factions, depending on the classes you want to play and the things each campaign comes with.

Any news on 2? I don't want to start playing and then have 2 come out in a few months. Though I hear some hall or something will allow you to store items for the transition.

I heard closed beta late 2008. IMO it's a bit late to get in. You have to play during the first 2 months after an expension is released or you'll be playing solo with the NPCs. It's nice during the first half of the campains, after that there is

    A) No one
    B) Only running groups, 1 guy is doing it all himself and the other 7 pay him. This is because people only want to get to a certain place so they can farm weapons for their PvP characters.

In NF/Factions, since you hit level 20 near the beggining, the quests are all useless (but in NF you sitll need to do them to get a high enough rank).

The game is very good, the community not that much. In the later areas (like the 3 last instances of one campain), there is absolutely no one. 2 hours finding a group, 3 hours doing the instance.

The PvP system is really nice though.

Also, Platinum edition (orignal + factions) is $39.99. Eye of the north is $9.99 and nightfall 29.99 at Futureshop

true, not many players group together for regular PvE missions any more but you don't really need to since you can have heroes+henchman to easily wipe through the game(except for elite areas, those are full of people)
