Probably under NDA, so don't hold your breath. However, it would be nice to see if the anticipation is justified. Any words?

    I heard it's extremely buggy.

Though you had to pay for the beta in order to play it.. :/

Where did you hear that it was buggy? I haven't had any problems at all. I've played about 5 hours now and it hasn't crashed or done anything screwy yet. And you only had to pre-order the Orange box (which I was going to do anyway), and it's actually $5 cheaper than normal ($45 vs. $50).

I don't think it's under NDA (or at least, I never read anything), so here's some screenshots:

It runs surprisingly well on my Go 7950 GTX. Max settings (except AA) @ 1920x1200, getting 60 FPS when nothing's going on, and dropping down to 30-40 when there's tons of explosions and 10 people in view. It's very playable.

The game is possibly the most fun I've ever had in a multiplayer game. The classes all play differently, but are still well balanced (although the Pyro is a little weak - but they still have time to fix stuff) and all of them are extremely fun to play.

TF2 also contains some new things Valve is doing with its games. For example, your in-game name is tied to your Steam Community name, and it keeps track of your stats in the game. There are also Achievements (ala Xbox Live) that are tied to your account. Plus a minor thing, the "Valve Guy" that appears whenever you launch a Valve game is different (it's a black dude with a valve sticking out of the back of his head, instead of the other guy with the valve in his eye.)

Hopefully TF2 recaptures the spirit of TF back in the day.. TFC just didn't cut it -- Q3TF even felt closer.

Yeah TF2 is pretty sweet, the hardest part for me so far, is dividing time between it and the Crysis MP beta -_-

I love what they did with the source engine, it's like a pixar movie. Engineers for life!

Not until the official release October 10. And it will run you $29.95.

The Orange Box is a heck of a deal even if you already own HL2 and Episode 1.
it's 44.95 and gets you Episode 2, TF2, and Portal, which will cost you $80 for those 3 come release.
PLUS you get HL2 and Episode1 that you can give away *cough*sell*cough* to a friend.

i can't wait to be able to play this game, i wish i could play the beta. i used to play this back in the day when it was based on quake and i have to say it was one of my all time favorite games. every class is great, and they also include 2fort, which is a CLASSIC original map. the spy is good but when you become a spy and do an "action" you turn back into the spy outfit and get killed if someone sees you so you have to be quick. my favorite was setting up turrets at creative spots and watch people just get mowed down. i seen videos on the game and it looks just like the classic, now only if i could play the beta!?

    Just got the beta today,

Your team's spys just simply have a mask on thier faces depicting who they are mimmicking. To the other team you can't tell a spy from a team mate unless you focus on them for a few seconds and read thier name.

Oh, and the second a spy tries to attack, he loses the desguise, and it takes about 5 seconds to get back into desguise, aswell, you cannot capture control points, or do objectives while desguised..

The game is extremely fun, and runs as follows on my 8800GTS 320mb, 3.2GHz C2D system,

    highest 280FPS
    Lowest 70FPS
    Average 140FPS

in the settings, 1440x900, 6xaa, 16xAF, everything else on MAX. But what I want to know more, is how it runs on the 8700mGT since I'll be getting one on monday (yay finally! :D )

I haven't tried TF2 yet, but it seems to work much like TFC.

The key weakness for the spy is a well-organized team. In random public server matches, the spy can sometimes do pretty well, because no one know who they're teamed with, or where their teammates are.

In clan matches, not a chance. YOu know where your teammates are supposed to be, and how many of each class you have. So if the wrong class approaches you at the wrong place, you shoot him.

And of course, you lose disguise when picking up the flag too. And since that, not kills, is what matters in the end... well, spies aren't overpowered. ;)

And as said, you lose disguise whne you attack, and your knife only kills from behind. Can be hard to get behind people if they spot you.

Vaath: I ordered from Play.com and didn't get the key. So I think you have to do it through Steam

Downloaded it last night but did not get to play until couple hours ago.

I feel they did an excellent job with it, cartoon like interface looks pretty good on maxed 1680x1050. :)

Honestly we need a TF2 clan going on here. If it's half as fun to me and you guys then I believe it will be packed servers galore!

i hope steam will work for me when i get this game :( last time i downloaded steam, about 95% of the time the thing would start up and when the news thing and stuff comes up it would freeze and i'd have to ctrl+alt+delete it... then once in every 20 times it would actually work... anyone else have this problem with the steam software? i'd download steam right now but i know it's going to be doing this. i tried it last time like 2 weeks ago and i had the same problem...

anyone have a solution ? (im using vista)

By way of reference, i'm running the game at 1440x900 with everything on high detail, but no AA and it's really really smooth, even in firefights with 10+ people.. I could probably run a higher resolution fairly easily, but my current one is my screen's native..

    System as in sig
