Im not sure, my urge to play it, is wearing off slightly.

my urge to play it wore off on day 1. it was a total let down. im not going to trash it just yet because im hoping in a few patches after they fix that horrid popularity system, add chat and some interesting CGs come out my interest in the game will return.
-
Ya, I went back to Forged Alliance after a few days.

no, blasphemy.
shun the non-believer.
i do sometimes wish that some additional content from single player would exist in multiplayer... -

After couple of hours i was done lol.. boring game.
-
i find wc3 more fun, to me, this game has too much macro, not enough micro, and on ladder games, there's barely any time to think with the faster speed setting, i am just mindlessly clicking everything that can be clicked since i always always have an abundance of resources, and at the same time i am constantly expanding since the mineral fields dry up fast
wc3 was just a tad bit slow with building times, i was hoping they would make sc2 just a bit faster, but they ended up making it much.. much much faster, no time to think or to plan out a strategy
oh, and the popularity thing is stupid, cant search for games, no menu shortcuts, like.. ~10 top custom games and any new ones will never rise in popularity.. seriously, why is the list designed like that, why is there just one list, why is the "window" for that list so small? couldn't they have made it longer and wider with multiple columns to fit in more titles? there's so much empty useless space ... why is the "custom games" button so small? isn't it one of the big features of the game? couldn't they have just put the custom games list on the same page as the multiplayer homepage? why does the game start off in the singleplayer homepage anyway? once you finish that, you'll never go back to it... i wish blizzard would ask for my advice before they release a game..
just my 2c -

obviously it's not as mainstream as shooter games, but there is a lot of enjoyment to be had out of it depending on what you like.

I find myself becoming more and more addicted with each passing day. I play the SP campaign from time to time, but most of my time is spent playing against the AI or my friends.
-
^ totally agree (except for ice escape lol, never liked escape games) and i admit, when i first played wc3, coming from other rts games like wc2 .. age of empires.. etc., i hated how there were heroes, it wasnt until i learned how to use them that i realized they complement the rts system very well, so much more fun with heroes.. now that i go back to playing with no heroes.. i feel like i'm just moving blobs of units around.. and whichever blob is stronger wins
-
The campaign was pointless and disappointing, but the multiplayer is, in my opinion, far more engaging than WC3, more accessible than SC1's multiplayer, and quite enjoyable and addicting. Losing multiple games in a row because I placed into the wrong league sucks, but games that aren't one-sided are quite fun.
I expect I'll be playing SC2 multiplayer for quite some time. -
If you have friends who have the game, playing with them casually makes it 100x better and less boring.
I must admit though, the game is really linear unlike wc3. You follow a standard build order for x matchup and macro as best you can. Atleast in wc3 you could try out some stupid strats and still win lol. -
Campaign:
Warcraft 3 > SC2
SC2 < Dawn of War
Multiplayer
SC2 > Dawn of War > Warcraft 3 -
I don't understand what people were expecting out of the campaign that makes it seem so bad to them?
Did you not know that it's only 1/3 of the total game? Did it offend your mother and spit on your dog?
I'm just curious honestly.
It was full featured, had some funny spots, brought some awesome old units back in HD glory, lots of fun stuff and a good challenge on hard.
The MP is amazing so far, WC3 is good in it's own way and SC2 is good in another way, they are two completely different games with vastly different gameplay, that's why comparing them doesn't work.
Custom games will come with time, I hear a lot of people whining about a lack of custom games... Do you remember how long it took until DOTA was available? Give the game a little more than a week to actually... you know mature a bit! Heheh -
So far IMO company of heroes and warcraft 3 were better, but still learning the game so it might change! And if you dislike you might like the new company of heroes online. Get a beta key here: Company of Heroes Online Beta on FilePlanet

The grind on ladder is irresistible to me.
-
For singleplayer campaign, it's good as far as it lasted, after that it's all downhill. For multiplayer I prefer WC3 a lot more, I'm not a ladder player though, the custom game on SC2 is simply crap, especially due to the popularity system, on WC3 custom game you just keep on refreshing the game list and somehow or rather you might see a nice new game popping up, for SC2, you will ALWAYS see those few games there, and even if you search down the list to get some rare games, you will never have anyone who join in the game.

How do you play with friends in multiplayer, in ANY form? Clicking on multiplayer doesn't let me link up with anyone else, whether LAN or on Bnet.

Wow, never knew that - thank you, kornchipz!

after coh and dow 1 and 2 , sc2 just seems a little dated gameplay wise.
the story is good but pales in comparison to warhammer 40k - of course that coming from a 40k fan though. -
I'm bored, some how a let down.
-
bored? never even bothered to get it
-
i think the game will pick up once we get some nice CGs and when blizz adds chat and gets rid of all their nazi rules for map editing/CGs.

I like SC2 for multi-player part, it is quite fun playing against with friends. I do agree that sc2 is somehow not being fine tuned enough due to initial release. We'll see how it goes later on.
-
Multiplayer definitely has me occupied as I'm a slow learner and still mastering Terran. Then I have zergs and Protoss. I would say I have another six months before I get bored out of my mind.
-
wil there be a dota version for this game?
-
2 weeks out and already asking for dota SC2 lol
Sure there will be but it'll take quite a long time
-
theres already a few dota wannabes out there. i tried one and it needed a lot of work.

If you want DOTA go play WC3 lol, I hope Dota does not take over the custom game world, before it came out on WC3 there were tons of varied and fun games of all sorts.
When DOTA took over thats all everybody played, and for me it just was not too fun and had tons of immature dirty mouthed kids running about. -
There are multiple, high quality, stand-alone DotA games, some with effective matchmaking systems, more varied and interesting heroes than you'll ever see in SC2, more well-balanced and imaginative and varied than the original DotA.
For chrissake, go play one of those instead of looking for one on SC2.
Hell, even I like Heroes of Newerth (for some unfathomable reason). -
Yeah League of Legends is a good one as well. I still play it occasionally.
-
-
Make no mistake, DOTA is coming to SC2. But will it completely take over custom gaming? I don't think so. Correct me if I am wrong but with the system they have now wouldn't there only be one listing of it? So it won't cover 90% of the CG list like in WC3. I also doubt it will be as popular on SC2 as it was on WC3 because, well, if people really want DOTA they can just play it on WC3 or one of the stand alone games that were previously mentioned.

This game is only fun when playing with friends... IMO.
Anyone slightly bored of sc2 yet
