    Never really got into it in the past, but started up recently, and I am liking it so far.

    Then you should definitely check out EVE online. Its like freelancer, But with better graphics

    Plus it lacks the FPS element.

    I played it online however after I farmed my Rhineland Battleship in 2 weeks I got a bit bored of it lol.

    oh gawd... EVE... the learning curve... the time it takes to get some stuff done... aside from that, it's amazing...

    Yeah Freelancer is pretty easy to get into and has a continuous flow of action. Eve costs too much $$$ and takes too long to build up.

    Freelancer was pretty cool but yeah it can get quite repetitive, the missions/quests consist only of going somewhere and taking out some pirates.

    Freespace 2 on the other hand, while not as pretty was to space shooters as COD4 is to fps games.
