Anyone with Lord of the Rings Online?

if anyone has it I really want to try it, I know people who buy it get a free Buddy key to give out so someone can try it for 10 days...

I played the beta for a week or two. I wasnt impressed to be frank, even as a big LOTR fan. The graphics were poor (maybe even worse than WoW), the characters/classes seemed boring, and the quests were repetitive. I didn't get any "epic" feel. However, this might be because I'm used to Guild Wars. I'm sure they'll do something like WoW where you can sign up on a website and try for free. Sorry I didnt answer your question .

Yea I downloaded the beta a while back and started playing it but my Laptop coudlnt really play it at a reasonable framerate (as WoW ran fine) so I deleted it.

But now I just picked up an alienware m9750 so I wanted to give it a try...ive played WoW forever and still think its amazing...I just want to try it before I go ahead and buy it.

 

Hmmm I can't find my buddy key, but I play on a regular basis. Pretty good alternate for when I get bored of WOW.

I Play Lotro, have since Beta. I as well switched from guildwars. I love Lotro compared to GW, And the graphics blow GW and especially WOW out of the water, But you need a beefy system to see its true form. Anyways the reason I gave my 2 copper was to say I have my buddy key..pm me and I'll hand it over

The beta didn't impress me much, reminded me of WoW a bit too much. I couldn't see the difference between the two(x700 didn't give me much leeway) heh.

 

Well first off, one MMO to another isn't much different - just a visual facelift and new areas essentially...

Anyway, LOTRO does rock. I've played it in Closed Beta and now in the live version. Game looks great and runs great on my Go7600.

Give it a shot!

 

Yea I beta tested it for a lil while and was like eh maybe ill try it when it comes out. Well I finally bought it because I needed something new to play and I want to test my notebook out when it gets here... well lets say i am freakin addicted to it now!

 

The whole play as a monster against other players aspect seems neat, but Im holding out for WAR...I rather play my actual character against other players and I used to play the table top game :GEEK:

Turbine did it. That should be enough to warn anyone away.

 

Its fairly good, although it needs a MUCH larger player base then it has, and it DOES get a little boring around level 24 or so. I';ll re-activate my subscription when they add the next expansion to it.

Everyone who has an active account has unlimited buddy keys. C'mon subscribers, it's in your best interest to get people playing.

Over at mmorpg.com in the LoTRO threads there is a signup thread. Just ad your email addy (at your own risk) to the thread and someone will send you a key.

I just bought this game too, I have the full version. It's amazing! and i'm on a really crappy computer waiting for a better one ;P

Just give it time, if you like having tasks to do and places to go, then this is the game.. I'm a huge Wow fan as well, played that the past 6 months and I love it though i'm getting bored of it, so I tried LOTR.. Believe me, if you liked wow, wait for this game.. It'll be worth it, they've got an awesome idea and it has SO MUCH TO DO.. So many things, it's so worth it to be called a "Spider Foe" after killing 200 spiders or whatever it is, Lol.. This game will beat Wow 10000-1 IMO..

Thats me though.. Just stick with it!! and PS.. The graphics beat wow's graphics already and I have only seen them for a few seconds, lol.. (waiting on a new laptop.)

It's like that now, and they're updating it like wow does.. Every tuesday theres a new update and they've made MAJOR improvements.
