I did a forum seach and found these threads which was no help at all... except for one.. but it only lead me to a drive that allowed me to use Rivatuner sliders without resetting itself.. except on GPU-Z it shows that there was no Overclock with in the sensors.. although in Rivatuner it showed that it worked. and also the first tab of GPU-Z showed that the overclocked worked as well... but for some reason it won't even go past its default clock settings when running a game.

I also did some 3dmark06 tests which proved that the drivers didn't work while OCed

Welp.. it seems like only newer 17x+ drivers allow the card to work normally at its full default clocks. while generally the older ones will show a downclock when installed.

Does anyone have any luck with the DDR3 version of this card? the 64mb version.

    I have a sony SZ7

i ran 3dmark06 and it looks like its lower then if i used 180x drivers. And the Sensors on GPU-Z does not show it top out at the right Clocks.. but on the first picture i posted there.. it says it is OCed... so am i OCed or not?

it looks like the graphics card came with this when i first got it:

but when i revert back to it.. it sorta sucks. lol

The GPU downclocks when not being used. Put some load on it and then it will max out to the clocks you set.

a game should provide enough load right?

i think right there it didn't move from low graphics mode.

A game menu wont stress the card. Get ingame and check.

    Just to comment.
Why do you want to overclock the NVidia?

You know about the NVidia "issue"? Overclocking will only speed up the issue - even if no SZs have failed.

ive had my card overclocked since March and i find nothing wrong with it. I pushed my 8400M GT to 600/731 and in intense conditions i push it to 650/780 to play latest games.

I am pretty sure that 8400M GT and 8400M GS share the same core. For me any drivers will suit my overclocking. I dont know why some people can only oc with the old 16xx?

But yeah, use Rivatuner instead of your current. Rivatuner is the mother of all OC'ing tools
