Apples aren't for games, and the iBook's 9550 is aging and outdated. I would not touch an Apple for games, nor a 9550.

We have an FAQ you can fill out in the What to Buy section - we'll help you find a notebook for your needs. :)

I have the most recent ibook and have been able to play Myst V EOA (not on highest settings mind you, but it still looked pretty good and was mostly quite responsive). I also have been playing Halo on it, and it is performing quite well, agian, not on full, but i do have most everything on and 2x AA on. It rarely slowed down.
I guess one difference between the two games is that i have been running halo with 256MB more ram then Myst V.

So its not quite as week as some people say, it still does pretty good, obivously not the best, but still good.

Sounds good. I am going to buy a ibook in about 2 weeks but just wanted to see how well they performed. I going to get the 12inch one which one do you have? What games can you buy for them?

I also have the 12 in, there are more games out there then people realize, mostly the challenge is finding them, and sometimes they are more expensive. (halo is 50$ for mac, 20-30 for pc). Some of the more popular ones are the ones that get ported. Some mentionables are quake2/3/4, halo, unreal tournament 2004, sim games, some others as well.

also, the games you will be able to play are much older. a 32mb video card in the ibook will not get you too far. in my 17 inch powerbook i have a radeon 9700 128mb video card..it barely plays WoW with decent settings...i run it @ 1440x900, draw distance at minimum, no AA..basically most options down, and i barely hit 35fps..in IF it is barely playable.

    hope this helps.

    pb,out.

a friend of mine has a 12 pbook, with the 64 meg nividia go(something or other), and it handles unreal tournament 2004 really good.

As for you being barely able to hit 35 fps, if you lowered the res, it would speed up and you could increase the settings. I guess i could say that when i am playing halo, i am playing on 800x600, with no background programs on either. i have no idea what my framerate is. but it is more then enough to look fluid and good.

I guess i can also settle (in some cases) for some less detail then some people who want every bit of detail possible. I guess its because i haven't had a really powerful computer in a long time, and not really a gamer anymore.
