Does GPUs running with 174s cooler than with 169? My 8600 (in sig) runs 59-69 idle, and 77 peaks when playing games such as Crysis and Assassin's Creed. However, people have claimed the 174 drivers run cooler than the 169, so what are the cases for you guys? Any difference *upgrading* from 169 to 174? And please include your GPU model with the post (Type, DDR2/3, OC/No OC, etc.)

YES. I noticed about a 5C drop when going from the 169 series to the 174. I saw close to 70C temps then, while now, on 174.93 see max 65C for the GPU.

Yep, I switched to the DELL driver, 174.31 i think, for the XPS M1710 and notice a bit difference in temp. Its peak now is now ~65 compared to ~70-ish.

174 series run about 5C cooler than 169 and offer better performance. If you're looking to go from 169 to 174, 174.74 is a good choice, at least for me.

Of course they do, since you have an Nvidia based IGP.

To clarify, NVIDIA uses a unified driver design that works for all their cards, regardless of classification. Among other reasons, this is to reduce user confusion on what driver to download. ;)
