Are there any good RPG's left?

This is how I feel --

Why? Because Mass Effect won't be released on the PC (and Bioshock runs like crap on my notebook but that's another story for another thread). I've played all of Bioware's games now all of a sudden they release a game exclusively for the Xbox? Total BS if you ask me!

Are there any good RPG's that I've missed? Like I said I've already played all of Bioware's games (BG, KOTOR, Jade Empire etc.) and I've played Oblivion to death. NWN and Diablo are too souless and boring. Gothic and Two Worlds are nothing but Oblivion clones so they don't interest me.

    So what's left?

Edit: I've also tried System Shock 2, Deus Ex and Vampire: Masquerades but couldn't get over how badly the graphics have aged. I 'm not a big fan of "Dungeon crawl" type of games either

I know it's an oldie but it's still got mileage left in it.. have you tried System Shock 2? it's Bioshocks predecessor. Also another old one which is good is the original Deus Ex.. not the second one as that was garbage. Both these would run great on any laptop I would think.

People, stop posting World in Conflict for every ''Looking for a Game'' thread. It seems that World in Conflict is your universal answer for ''Looking for a Shooter'', "Looking for an RPG'', etc. threads. Do you guys even know what genre the game is?

Planescape Torment was superb.. I'd totally forgotten about that game.

Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines.. I liked it but preferred Vampire Masquerade: Redemption much more as it was less cheesey.

    have you tried Arx Fatalis?

I didn't like Fable much. It was too "consolised" (Kind of like Oblivion in that respect)

I don't like the principle of paying every month for a game I already purchased. Furthermore, I need a game with some kind of storyline. Thanks anyway ;)

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines FTW

Sure the graphics are out-dated by today's standard, but it has the best voice-acting and storyline ever (even better than Oblivion's), like the guy who does Bender's voice (from Futurama) also does voices for several main characters in the game.

Plus, the game is way under-rated. Darn Activision didn't even do anything to promote this game when it came out...

yes indeed, the game communities are still very active on patching the game. It's such a shame that Troika went down, who knows what kinda new games they will come out after VTMB...

Maybe I would have enjoyed Bloodlines it when it first came out but 3D RPGs tend to age very badly. Planescape on the other hand was very much playable 7 years after it's release.

    I just saw NWN2 for 25 bucks on webhallen.se (199 SEK = 25 USD ?). Is that worth a purchase?

Guild Wars has no monthly fee, and a great storyline. Plus it doesn't force you into grinding. If you wanna try it out before buying it, head to a guild wars forum and ask around for trial keys, heck, I think I still have mine if I can find it.

To answer your question, yes, Neverwinter Nights 2 is worth the purchase if you like RPGs. The first part of the game is a bit boring (Just a bit!), but it picks up quickly after that.

I dont think Bloodlines has aged badly at all. The character models are still top notch and remember its the source engine so it dont look that bad.

I keep meaning to get NWN2 as well but i was put off by the poor reviews and the bugs. I think ill wait until its down to around £15 (its at £20 atm)

Its the same with Gothic 3. I love all these types but the bugs drive me mad.

Have you played the Fallout series?

Whens Fallout 3 coming out anyone?

I would like to point out that Guild Wars is free online play, all you pay for is the game itself.

VTM might be getting better looking in awhile. A group of people got the SDK and are slowly working on updating it to the newer source engine.

Q2/3 of 2008 for Fallout 3. Dragon Age whenever that comes out. I'm sure Mass Effect will show up on the PC at some point, KOTOR and Jade Empire did.

I haven't played it all that much, but you could try Silverfall. NWN2 is worth it, modders are finally getting the hand of it, and if you completely patch it, it runs well and has few if any bugs left, and deff nothing major, plus it has an expansion coming out next year. Not really an RPG persay, but you could try Overlord.

And I know you said no to MMOs, but Tabula Rasa(isn't out yet, in beta) has an excellent story and you can almost play it all by yourself if you wanted.

Uhh...hmm. Can't think of anything else really right now....
