No, I've tried previous Sims games and all of them have failed to be at all fun.

Is there any info if there are going to be new features or it will be just a revamped version (better graphics, new musical score)?

No. I stopped after the first Sims.

One can get only so much pleasure putting a sim inside a doorless room with only a sink and no toilet. As Jack Bauer would say, the torture gets boring after the first hundred hours or so.

And when I saw all the expansions for Sims 2 displayed at a local EBG, including an Ikea branded one, I just rolled my eyes and walked away.

I liked Sims 1, and Sims 2 was ok. But I think the best part was manualy building yourself the house with unlimited funds and making it actually good. Ill probably get the Sims 3, to give EA another chance. Even though Im prolly only gonna end up playing the game for fun every now and then for short amounts of time.

But I swear, if I see a flood of tons of expansion packs come out for Sims 3 like it did for Sims 2, I will loose all respect in EA, and probably wont be buying anymore of their games until they make something "good".

Sick of it. The only good bit was building the house, as Monkey said.

    Exactly...

My cousin is in Architecture at Virginia Tech. He loved the first sims. It was kinda creepy to look at what he came up with though because he had his girlfriend and him living in this house and he was like this is our home... That was during High School. He isn't weird or anything but at the time it creeped me out. It's hard to explain.

I played the first and it was good. Even got an expansion or two. Never tried the second one. I could see buying this one when it hits the $20-30 for the novelty of it. I enjoy running peoples life's with ruthless efficiency: No, you may not go the bathroom, you have to get the paper to find a job!

I do like their DRM choice. I've been avoiding a lot of games because I don't buy anything with the online authorization:

I played Sim City 2000 long time back. I was the best, specially when you get the futuristic buildings.

TS3 is a big rework... no more paying attention to toilets - the Sims take care of themselves. That lets you concentrate on the much more interesting things... the game's engine and capabilities, as well as the ton of creativity behind it puts it leagues above the original.

Plus, building houses will be cooler than ever... in the original, you could rotate your object four different ways. Here you'll have 360...

Maybe after a while if it hits <$30 and I'm in a mood for a sandbox game. At least it doesn't have the DRM and authentication that steered me away from Sims 2 - if it did I wouldn't even consider it.

The original sims was pretty fun for building houses and stuff. After about the 20th sims expansion pack it got bloated. Never bothered with 2 or 3.

And ... well ... that type of game just is not appealing anymore.

Depends how it turns out I guess. I mean, it's a fun game for certain purposes, but it's also got it's cons(notably being a huuggee money sink -_-)

Guess I'll wait and see ^_^

I'm pumped for Sims 3. I own both 1 and 2. Pretty much mostly excited for 360 degree furniture rotation.

They should make a new Roller Coaster Tycoon.

They should make it like RA3 were its a top down view that u can rotate on, and just put in a hella lot of ambient occlusion and next gen features. Id be sold.

I remember creating a sim. He'd play computer games all day then whine about not getting any social life. Then I looked at myself and thought.

Hahahaha... this made me laugh so hard. But yeah, will be interesting to see how this game turns out. Sounds like a neat idea with the network thing, but I have other things to attend to, and if I'm going to follow games, it won't be this one.

By the way, am I the only one who likes to play the Sims legit? Like... get a good job and make money and buy stuff..... wow, that does sound boring, lol.
