I know it's an old game, but there is a great deal on Steam now for this. How will it run on my system?

    Geforce GT420m 1GB

    not too well.

I just got it, and I get about 30 - 40 fps on my rig, but so far I've only done training so there isn't much else going on.

it runs very bad on the campaign missons compared to the traning missions.

On my super clocked 5850 800/1100 and i7 Q740 i get average 30 FPS on the campaign high settings, in training mode i have 50-60

My 740qm got me 30-40 fps on everything but the last mission, where I struggled to get 20 fps in some areas. Nothing is scripted in this game from what I hear, so it's trying to "think" for all units on the map in real time. My 2500k @ 4.2 ghz can finally run it acceptably :p

On a dual core, I wouldn't even bother. It seemed to use at least 6 threads on my i7.

Arma 2 is an intensive game, I can get playable FPS out of my rig from mid-low settings (~15fps), I'm not sure what the comparison is between a GTX260 and GT420, but I doubt you'll have any problem running it on medium settings.

Make sure to pick up Combined Operations (Operation Arrowhead) if you get that offer.

It's not the GPU that's the issue, as you can always lower settings, but this game eats CPUs alive.

I'm managing around 25 FPS on medium/low settings during the first missions, and I'm using VFFPSS that automatically adjusts settings to increase frame rate during play. It works pretty well so far.

Here's a link for the mod..
