Was curious and enjoyed the previous versions.... I'm ok with this distribution method for a game like this, went ahead and supported them as I know I'd pick it up before release anyway. Downloading now.

Thnans for pointing this out  . Game looks amazing, Its by far the most realistic looking game right now from what I've seen on youtube. I wonder how would it run on a 7970m or 680m, since I remember that even ARMA 2 was pretty demanding.

keep in mind that since it is a combat simulation, it is vastly different from your usual Battlefield 3 and CoD. Buy with caution.

I've played a LOT of ArmA 2. How does this compare so far with the alpha?
-
Been playing a bit, performance has been quite nice and not an issue, especially for being an alpha. I'd ballpark that it runs no worse, better in a lot of scenarios than II even in it's current state but I haven't been in a huge heated battle yet. Graphics are really nice in most areas but there are definitely rough spots they still have to work on.
Highlights I've enjoyed so far are the scuba scenario and of course the helicopter... love the helicopter. Quick setup with CH stick, rudder pedals, and throttle quadrant and it's fantastic. Not overly serious or hardcore, but realistic enough to be a blast without silly complications that would interrupt the flow from 3d shooter to pilot.
Gameplay is as mentioned above pure ARMA, so don't expect a run and gun non stop action fest.... that it is not. Also, graphics are nice, but it's no Crysis 3. View distances and scale however are fantastic, as the game world encompasses the whole island in the alpha. Looking forward to seeing how things develop, but for the price glad I jumped on board. -
How are the servers so far? And have people started making their own awesome 4-15 player "special ops" missions?

Anyone able to try this on a GT650M/GTX660m and i7-3610QM and report back, it would be much appreciated

I can tell you it runs like garbage with sli 680ms lol. Utilization stays in the 30-50% range, and the game is pretty buggy from what I've played so far. It's just an alpha though; hopefully optimization will improve with the beta and final releases.

Well poop, I guess no chance of playing it on my GTX660m
that makes me sad

I'm sure it would run fine on a single 660m, I think the sli support is just crappy at the moment. You might experience some underutilization, but as long as you stick with medium-ish settings you'll be fine (I think lol) -
No need to be sad my friend, you should be able to run it just fine. I'm running a 660m as listed in my signature without issue, see my above posts.... Game is definitely an alpha and will improve with time I hope, but you'll be able to play and enjoy it, at least I do.

Thanks, any ballpark estimate as to What settings you're playing with?

you may want to change that signature of yours @.@

What are your prices for Arma 3?

I've played ArmA II and III with my 8170, which has a single GTX 480 and both run good on medium-high settings. I love ArmA because I am into military simulations vs first-person action shooter games. You really need to play on high quality servers and ones that you have a good ping to. The ArmA series is good to play with a clan or consistent group of people as teamwork is key.
I did however have many hours of fun with the Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon and Battlefield series of games. -
I am running A3 with 6970m in crossfire which is about 35% ish faster than a 660m (or something simular). I get pertty stable 55/60 fps in high/med in 1080p. Now notice the fact that the devs said this game depends on the total configuration not only the GPU as in much games. You have a SSD and a good CPU so if you crank down the settings you should be good to go. Try the free Arma 2 multiplayer from their website and try to so if you can run it, if you can Arma 3 will only run smoother as the engine is more optimized!

Good feedback, thanks!
