Hello. I am trying Assassins Creed on my XPS M1530.
Unfortunately, it doesn't run smoothly in the "default settings" (everyting 3/4, 1440x900 shadows 2/3)
Im trying at 1280x800 with everything -1 (2/4 and 1/3) but I am not sure if I could do any better.
What settings are you using? Is there any kind of "config file" for optimization?
I am using 174.31 dell drivers without OC.
Thanks
-
you might want to overclock it abit.. it actually helps alot
-
go to laptopvideo2go.com adn get some new drivers there, ur game will most likely run better with those. there is guide on thewebsite if you need to learn how to install these drivers.
-
Which one should I use? -
When did dell release new graphics card drivers? (mobile i mean) Im still using 156.69 and it runs assassin's creed everything on full with 2x AA.
-
I doubt it`s running on full, but if you say so -
1280x800 is max on my m1530
Yes its running on full note i added its only on 2x AA. No lags or OC.
-
Oh sorry i forgot to add...i run the game in dx 9 mode not dx 10 as there are really no difference as far as i could tell.
-
Well, it depends on what that is. I still thing it stutters a bit, but again, you might have it OCed and that would clear some issues.
WXGA is more like it, 4/4 details and 3/3 shadows should run decently on a XPS 1530.
And as far as I`ve heard, DX10 should be running better and look better also -
I overclocked the GPU from 450 / 702 to 600 / 900 (following a guide with RivaTuner) .
3dMark06
Before OC
4625 3DMarks
After OC
5691 3DMarks
Using 174.31
I haven't tested AC with OC yet. I am not sure if I should do it. Is it safe to play games with OC? (because of the added heat, wouldn't it reduce the laptop life?)
Also, the system is overclocked even with RivaTuner closed? To un-overclock I would need to reopen it and set it to default right?
EDIT: Tested Assassins Creed WITH OC (600/900). It's great details/graphics 3/4 , shadows 2/3 1440x900. AND DIRECTX9!
Will try again without OC...
EDIT2: Without OC but using DirectX 9 the game seems to improve. It's not as smooth as it is with OC, but well, it's playable. Playable, but laggy.
What should I do? -
Keep the OC and make sure GPU temps ie never over 80C and CPU temp over 70-75C.
-
Keep the OC while running games and make sure you have enough cooling. Buy a cooling pad if necessary.
Also you can enable profiles so when a 3d app is run your OC kicks in and when you go back to windows, the card switches back to default clocks. Not sure how to do it in Rivatuner but I use ATItoll for OC and its very easy to setup. -
Actually I already have and use a cooling pad (Zalman NC2000) but I am not sure
-
Sure of what ?lol
The NC2000 is among the best yet. -
I thought the Zalman doesn't cool the M1530 well due to fan locations
-
-
As long as you keep the temps under control, OCing is pretty safe.
You don`t want your laptop to last 10 years, now do you? -
So, what guides do you use to overclock? I followed this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTSdX6KiGaU, but it just shows how to open Rivatuner and set it to 600/900 (nothing about if it will stay after reboot, or how to set it to be overclocked only when playing games) -
