Never got around to playing the first one, I was debating buying it. The graphics looked good, but I heard it was just a mediocre game.

Hopefully Ill hear good things from the 2nd one and maybe pick it up.

I agree. They really didn't hit it when they made the first one. Here's a hint - Don't be so repeatative!

I love how when i first played Assassins creed 1, they never tell you that it's going to be part of a series. So here i am at the end of the game in the same little cubical with a bunch of symbols on the wall thinking "?"

hopefully they will make this a more, point-full game if that would be the word

FWIW, Assassin's Creed was unique and fun, but it did get repetitive quickly. I got it for $10 during a Steam Weekend Deal and I think it was definitely worth the money.

The teaser is pretty vague, but interesting. I'd be excited to see where a second Assassin's Creed would go.

I wonder if the second one will have minimum requirements as quad and push the gaming environment even further than the first one.

Doubt it as it's still multi-platform. Unless they decide to go all out with the PC version like GTA4, FEAR 2, or Far Cry 2 did.

I only 'just' got a graphics card capable of playing the first one on full settings! Now they announce a new one which no doubt requires a $4000 PC to play on full :(

But yeah the first one is pretty poor. By the time you get to the third city you realize 'ok this is exactly the same as the first 2 cities'.

Gamers have higher expectations now, games like Bioshock have made sure of that. Games like Far Cry 2 and Assassins creed look nice but they play like crap and won't be huge successes with such poor gameplay.

don't buy it, the first 2hr is fun, after that, it's about as repetitive as tetris minus the fun.

    edit: the first AC.

It's the greatest game in the world, for the first 2 or 3 hours. After that it gets very tedious. I would rent it for day or 2, have your fun, and be done.

I highly recommend Assassin's Creed. Sure, it got repetitive at times, but very much worth it just to advance the story. I can't wait for this sequel. :D

I never thought it was repetitive except for the side missions. The freerunning never got boring and was always entertaining to do, and the main missions kept driving the storyline so long as you stuck with them. sure if you went and did side mission after side mission it would get boring, but you don't actually need to. You only really need to do 2 or 3 side missions then move onto the main mission which can be done relatively quickly. The main missions are always unique, and the battlesystem is far less repetitive than your standard button mashing or simple one hit system.

The blood on the walls at the end of the first hinted at a sequal, it also hinted that the next game will be the next era of time, and that it was always planned as a series and not a single game.

I personally don't care about what people were expecting out of the first, I thought it was great, and I really hope they don't screw up the second to address what people didn't like about it.

The blood on the walls were messages, I think one of them made a reference to the supposed end of the world in 2012. AC1, I think, is set in 2011, so I doubt the two will be seperated by much time.

i thought the battle system was bad because for me the only useful move was counter attack and no matter how many enemies are around you, be it 5, 10 or 50, only ONE will attack you at a given moment.

Odd. I've always been fine with actual attacks, not just counters. Although I must admit, successfully pulling off a counter with the hidden blade is extremely rewarding. :D

And I've been attacked by as many as 5 soldiers at once. It's caused me plenty of restarts. >_<

that's wierd, some times i would have about 20 soldiers around me, and they would always politely wait for their colleage to finish(die) before having their go's :p

i didnt know u cud counter with hidden blade until it was mentioned in this thread, i just tried it out, u can get some nasty kills out of it XD.

regardless of repitition i genuinly enjoyed the parkour, the ancient setting, the beautiful animation, in my eyes it makes up for the flaw of the game , plus the counter kills are awesome lookin

Agreed. For such size of a game more variety was needed.
