Didn't know whether to put this in OT or here, but since it's gaming related...
Looks like there is a movie being made in the works based on the 1970's Atari arcade hit "asteroids".
LOL
Wonder what the plot could really be?

Armageddon meets the Wingcommander movie.
-
Plot: Asteroids are going to hit the Earth. Earth (or most likely the U.S. Army & NASA) sends some sort of spaceship that has the capability to destroy asteroids with a powerful laser like weapon that can be used as many times as needed in order to save the planet from certain doom. As the ship starts its asteroid destroying mission, it is overwhelmed by the amount of asteroids there are! It is suddenly struck by one and there is critical damage to the ship, but the laser still works! They magically maneuver around like 10 asteroids coming at them at the same time and destroy them. But suddenly one asteroid slips by unnoticed and its going to destroy earth! Oh no! But suddenly someone notices it and the ship somehow recovers from its critical damage and can chase the asteroid at its fastest speed! They fire the laser, its a race to the finish! But why do they keep missing?! OMG the asteroid is about to hit the planet but suddenly the very last shot hits and earth enjoys a nice meteor shower to end the movie.
(I was bored). -
I think I would pay to see this over Transformers 2 lol.
I wonder if they'll make a Pacman/ Mrs. Pacman movie? -

ive also got pacman and frogger and space invaders.
wow! i must have been better than i thought. it used to cost me 10p to score 999,999,999 and take 3-4 hours of continuous play and i cant remember the shield.
thanks for the rep. -
I don't know if there was a shield, but I seem to remember one, and also what you mentioned about disappearing and reappearing elsewhere. Maybe those were knockoff games.
edit: A HA! I guess we were both right. Original game had hyperspace, follow up game Asteroids Deluxe replaced hyperspace with shields.
