$200 more for the 8800m GTS card (over the Asus X1) but it's a 17 inch and 3lbs heavier. Do you think it's worth it?

It's a $100 more, since the P6060FX retails for 1349. That said, you can probably get it cheaper on Ebay. Quite a fair bit cheaper if you're willing to go for the P6831FX.

Performance wise, yes, but if you are interested in 15 inchers more, stay with the asus :D

If you're going to pick out the Gateway for that price (200+ 1249), you might as well check out the M860TU.

Hmm, 1.83 Ghz is on the low end... I think I'll be picking the Gateway up instead then since I can replace the CPU a year later when the current CPU config doesn't suffice.

    Thanks.

1.83 Ghz is sufficient for most games. You will see an improvement with a faster processor for certain games, particularly simulators and RTSes, but other games will also see a very slight improvement. Also, you might wish to wait till August, as there's supposed to be a new iteration of the FX series released at Best Buy. I wouldn't bet on it, but if you're willing to wait, go ahead.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive. My budget is $1300 but I'm willing to buy the Gateway since it offers a full keyboard, 320 GB drive and it's the best value. :)

Again, I thank you all for finalizing my decision. I'll pick it up by the end of this month or the middle of August.

I first thought of waiting and buying the C90P then scrapped that to go on to the Sager NP2096 then saw this deal then now the Gateway. Notebookreview.com is definitely the place to go to search for notebook deals and reviews.

Shouldn't forget that the 6860fx goes on sale every couple of weeks. That almost never happens for the asus models.

In that case, go for the 6860FX, I would advise looking on Ebay or perhaps a user on this forums, as Best Buy is retailing it for 1349, and only online. Perhaps there'll be a clearance sale on it in a while.

its really not very thick for a 17inch, and honestly, if you cant carry around something that is eight pounds i think you have other problems.

and with people bashing the low end Core 2 CPU's; the clock speed really does not mean a whiole lot. This is a blazing fast processor in this laptop and it can play everygame just fine. It is the bottleneck in some RTS's and Crysis, but other then that it is more then enough. if you needed to, spend a little over $200 and get a new CPU.

I wish they would start making more gaming notebooks with a look that doesn't say "LOOK AT ME I'M A NERDY GAMER". The 6860FX is very extreme in that matter, like the G1S/G2S :(. This G50 is medium.

It's orange trimming and some faux carbon fiber plastic. I wouldn't call that very extreme. No bright lights or lighting would make it less subtle for me than the G1 series. And besides, who says gamers have to be nerdy? :D

Have you seen the X305? Now that's extreme (and hideous).

    You must be quite insecure.

I love when my notebook screams "Gamer". It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm a little past the age of caring what others think. (Passed that stage 10 years ago!)

I carry mine to all PR meetings, airports, and Lobby-Lounges every week. I've had comments, but I'm proud of my hobby.

I actually think the 579X chassis would look quite classy with just the sliver (looks white to me) trimming, and keeping to the black lid cover. The silver lid cover spoils it for me.

They do offer painting, so I suppose you could get it completely matte black to make it look like a lenovo.

:D , that's what the white/silver trim is for. Makes it less lenovoish.
