OK, I've been searching the net for days (well ok, all week - only got the laptop last Friday). I cannot for the life of me get either of these games to play. I've downloaded different drivers from Nvidia, Asus, Laptops2go, etc. and nothing.

When I load the game, the screen goes black, then blinks with a black screen with the status bar in a lower resolution, blinks black again, blinks into a dark square in the upper right corner and then nothing. Goes right back to the desktop.

Oh yeah, I've tried the widescreen and screen settings on the command line, run as administrator, run as Windows XP also. So now I've done just about everything I can find, its now time for someone to tell me what I stuipidly missed. Better yet if someone has a G2S with the 8600 GT card in it and has it running, I REALLY would like to hear how. These are my two favorite games.

Thanks, look forward to hearing something.....

I have had something similar in other games - if you are using Vista, have you tried activating, then logging in as the hidden adminstrator (then starting the game there)? I found I couldn't install many things, and those that installed often didn't work in any another login, even when that login had admin capabilities. And even with UAC off.

Solved my own problem by looking on Expert-Exchange. I got a clue about changing the video.con file. It seems that the games default to 60hz and my display is 62Hz. Go figure. It didn't like being switched to a refresh rate it couldn't handle.

OMG that was simple, wonder why no one has mentioned it. Hope this saves someone else the hassle.

What a pain in the )*)*!
