X2 power for $400 AUD ill take that anyday
-
-
no...
A. SLI does not = 2x power... more like 20%-40%
B. You cannot SLI them, as the XG station is (express card?) and your inbuilt card is, well... inbuilt
-
C. THe XG-Station has a 8600 GT, not a 8600M GT, its not the same card (the first is a desktop card)...
Now about SLI, WHY??? WHY??? Why ppl keep saying that Sli is 20-40%
... Good thing i'm a SLI user so i can COMMENT with BASE & FACTS about it... NO, it's not 20~40%, it's more about 60~100% depending on compatibility of drivers (getting better and better as times goes by)... And to the others telling that there's almost no games compatible with SLI, ALL of my games are SLI COMPATIBLE, the only new game i know isn't compatible is GTA IV, which is a SADLY, TRASHY, POOR CODED PORT...
Sorry abt the rant
-
Short story, you can`t SLI them.
Second of all, to all SLI naysayers, you should check out Brainer`s thread once again.
I`m not even going to bother about this, 20-40% lol... -
np mate thanks for the input i dont have much experience with SLI or that kind of stuff cheers
-
yea when i noticed the other one was a desktop card i thought it wouldnt work, what a shame tho cause if it would thatds be great and id totally do the same thing, ive heard great things from people who use SLI configs.
-
You all forgetting that the motherboard also must have an SLI controller chip on it to transfer data between PCIe busses. I can guarantee you that no notebook has an SLI controller that links the PCIe and Express card slot together..
-
yea which is another reason no one has said that would work..........
-
Lol scott you own a Foxconn, know very well that you own a Foxconn, and still ask if you can SLI that toy car radio looking thing to your system. You should know the Fox better
.
-
To be quite honest, I really wish SLI was 60-100% better than single card solutions, but it depends on which card. 60-80% is what my 8800GT's in SLI give me. But if you do something like an 8800GTX, it's just not good at all. And SLI is not improving in my opinion. I'd prefer Crossfire... except my motherboard doesn't support it
I have to agree though, GTAIV was a disaster. Rockstar Toronto should get fired. -
lol what can i say
i just like the brand name not necessarily the product. just say Foxconn it sounds awesome lol
they need to put a fox in their logo
and i like it because it alot cooler and stable then my old one -
you can't sli them
-
100%.. 1 in a million games.
And to reconfirm this the thousand time, you can't SLI the XG 8600 with your laptop's 8600. Get the Fujitsu Sa3650 with graphic booster (ati 3870), that my friend, you can XFire it with the onboard 3200 IGP. -
That's not out yet is it?
-
What the hell? This is out already?
Why haven't we heard any reviews on this yet? -
Well check Brainer's thread... He got at least 4 games with 100% or more improvement (DevilMayCry 4, Grid, Fallout and Dead Space)... Now if you believe him or not, that's other thing...
-
Real SLI might give you a 50% boost but not using a XG Station.
1. The XG requires an external monitor to function.
2. You can't SLI a laptop card and a desktop card, especially when there's no SLI compatibility.
3. The XG has very limited power as it is plugged in through the expresscard slot, which is not enough to actually offer much power.
The XG is aimed at people with X3100s and even older IGPs who want to get their game on, not people who already have a decent gaming card. -
Yeah, so many notebooks are very cheap these days with decent CPU's, but with quite anemic GPU's. Gives an opportunity to game where they wouldn't normally have a chance.
-
Yes, and there's might be more than 4 million games (counting indies as well) to date
-
Really, you can Crossfire the external 3870 with the internal 3200? I hadn't heard of that, interesting if the internal graphics can give a boost.
I don't think the XG Station has still been released, or only very few prototype versions despite it being listed on some websites. -
You don't get much boost out of the IGP, for sure. I'll get back to you after I finish working. I saw it in the brochure, (the one you posted) last time.
-
That's Hybrid xFire, not the real Crossfire.
-
What's that supposed to mean?
