I just got one of these things, and when reading the specs I was thinking, Oh good, I can finally at least RUN Crysis. But I honestly can't play any games, at even the lowest setting with out counting frames. I made sure to try updating all my drivers first, and I took into account that Windows 7 is new, and these things happen, but this is ridiculous. I literally cannot run a two year old game at 1024 x.

This is too intense to be a running problem with this model. Has anyone heard of this?

Just to stress how extreme an issue we're talking about, I've been working on my game collection for over 15 years, and the newest game I can stand the frame rate of, is The Dig (1996).

You should be able to run almost all modern games just fine.

    Which drivers are you using?
Does your computer have low frames on non-game 3D applications, like the various benchmark programs?
Is some background process eating up your CPU usage?

Are you running in High Performance mode, not Power Saver or Balanced? And are you plugged into AC power?

Yes, that's extremely unusual. You should be running Crysis on high. Hell, my 3650 can manage medium.

Your g72 should nuke most games and play crysis well at high settings. My g71 plays batman, need for speed shift, devil may cry 4, bioshock, world of warcraft, tomb raider legend and anniversery, tom clancy hawx, and street fighter 4 on max settings smoothly at native resolution. Crysis Warhead plays pretty smoothly with all settings at high aside from shader and water which I set to max (also native resolution). Ghostbusters has a bit of slowdown when the screen is full at max settings and native resolution but is smooth as butter for 95% of gameplay. Mirrors edge with physx enable plays smooth silk when settings are maxed and played at 1366x768.

So you seem to have a faulty unit or a software issue as you should be able to easily play most games. It is far from slow.

Yeah something must be up. I just bought my G72GX yesterday and it runs like a CHAMP. I love it.

Definitely try reinstalling/updating your nVidia drivers. Make sure to use Driver Sweeper. You might also check what Power Mode Windows is using.

I would go the whole nine yards and reformat and reinstall Windows.

    ^ This ^

I would have to agree to a full reinstall, if you still have issues I would rma your laptop and get it repaired or replaced. Hope all works out for you so you can enjoy your gaming properly.

No point going for a full reformat and install unless you have checked drivers, power modes etc.
