Okay I know the G53 will outperform the g51, but I might be getting a new laptop soon and it might come down to the asus g51x-a1 vs the g53. I take it to school and all too and as good as the g53 is, it looks like a giant brick compared to the g51.

Basically the cheapest g53 i can find is for around $1350 cad, and the cheapest g51 is around $1300.

Not a big difference, I know but portability and looks matter to me as well. Obviously the g53 is much better for $50 :X

If you are worried about size and using it for school, maybe check out the MSI GX 660. Supposedly with the LED lights off, it looks calmer and more refined then.

That notebook is lighter and thinner than both notebook with HD5870M which can be downclocked to .75v @ 100/150 with close to 3 hour battery life. And it should be around the same price range as the G53.

You can get a G53JW stock (the one in my sig, but with 6GB of ram instead) for 1455$ USD (and the CDN is on part 1 for 1 with the USD), plus 50$ shipping through GenTech.

The G53JW blows the G51 out of the water. It can handle everything on ultra except for Metro 2033 (no laptop with a single graphics card can handle it on ultra anyways).

G53! Come on now, this was not a serious question was it?

A little extra weight will make you stronger! That's an added bonus.

When you are old and weak like me, then worry about weight.

I just googled your location and read the entire wiki article. Pretty damn interesting. I take it you're a US scientist? :p I'm fascinated by remote locations lol.

Sorry, its a tongue in cheek reference to how cold it gets where I live - same country as you!

I see that NCIX lists the G53 as 2-5 day delivery now for $1350. Just in time for gaming season!
