Thanks Ivan! Stillo won't work on the x200m I'll wager so it makes little difference to me!
Man I hope there's an Omega version of this! -
Although you should have mentioned this in the updating drivers thread, thanks for the update.
(my post copied from other thread)
edit: Ok i had to make sure i had the same version of 3dmark05 to test (1.3.0). catalyst 7.1 got me 2470, omega 6.9 got me 2525, 6.12 got me 2510. Not too sure what i should do lol. -

Not enough changes, particularly performance changes to warrant an update IMO.

You hate CCC? And like Control Panel? Then this can help:

Still no sign of support for the X1700 as was mentioned in the driver update guide. I suppose the X1300 & X1400 include the X1350 and the X1450, but I'd be interested to know if anyone can install the ATI drivers with those cards.
Thanks for the update Ivan. -

I actually use Catalyst Control Center for its excellent Avivo video converter!

Don't know if this applies to Mobile Catalyst. But here's a link to the desktop Catalyst 7.1 performance analysis by Tweaktown, if you already haven't read it..
-
And ronkotus - thanks for the link. Seems that these are just nothing new to us with mobility GPUs.
Cheers,

This update really did nothing haha =/ .
omega's 6.9 still gives the best performance. unfortunately its a little grainy on the x1000 series. can't wait for the new version though. -
3d Mark 05 scores dropped about 50, 06 scores dropped about 100. Also, getting some corruption with text in some games. Hopefully 7.2 will be released soon and fix these problems.

With the driverversion 6.14.10.6641 (dunno what catalyst number) im getting 3010 marks in '06, and with the 7.1 catalyst im getting 3022 marks
-
On Topic: Hmm...I am not really sure what I should do. Some say 7.1 helps and some say it doesn't. I think I will just wait.
Tim -
Don't get 7.1. stick with omegas for now unless you play company of heroes or dark messiah of might and magic.
-
Some people fixed their FEAR performance with 7.1. But may be just a coincidence.
I will not install it yet. My OC settings are stable enough on 6.11 that I have.
Ivan -
So why does ATI not offer support for there own mobile gpu(x1700) anyone?
this is really weird don’t ya think I mean is it because they don’t offer this GPU to all their partners strange just plain ole strange there cant be any excuse for this. -
Seeing how HP is not on the supported manufacturers list, does this work well with the HP nc8430?
-
Finally got around to uploading some screenshots from these amazing CCC 7.1 drivers on my X1400. These two games (Raven Shield and Chaos Theory), BF 2142, and The Sims 2 are the only games I have CDs for with me at school. BF works fine, but the other three have problems (some Raven Shield and Chaos Theory screenies below). The Sims only has corruptin in the menu and is fine once in the game. Patiently awaiting 7.2.

I got problems, too. With me is Titan Quest, Silk Road and NWN2. Oblivion stills working fine. Revert back to 6.9 until this problem is solved. Mine is X1400.
-
Wow! Those are some screwed up shots.
You might almost think the card is overheating.. I have played FEAR, Oblivion, Company of Heroes, Morrowind and The Temple of Elemental Evil. No problems with Mobile Cats 7.1.
-
Ronkotus - thanks for the info - cause I play FEAR and CS:S mostly. So YOu say nothing is bad? Good to know. Anyway do you play FEAR online? If you do, join our NBR FEAR clan. www.thegamebooks.com. Mofo and Oz from NBR are also in. We play from time to time. It is fun.
Cheers,
Ivan -
I reverted back to 6.9 after I noticed the problems, it just took me a while to get around to posting some pics. All is back to normal will 6.9.
-
So definitely no 7.1 for me! "Don't fix it if it ain't broken" if my english is good enough.
Cheers,
Ivan -
I've noticed probably an increase of 5 fps in CSS after changing to 7.1
I think they work fairly well...I havn't tried FEAR yet, but I'll be more than happy to get SS's to compare
