I recently bought a new computer which has a sucky card in it already. A good thing is is i have another card thats a radeon 9550 and my aunt just gave me a x300(it came from her old comp lol). So i was wondering which card is better for both watching videos but mostly playing games? I do have experience with radeon 9550 so i know its good but as far as x300 i have no idea how good it is.

The Radeon X300 is better. Although none of those two cards are up to date on gaming, they will still play some of the older hits. For watching videos they'll both be more than fine.

yes x300 will be good and will run "most" of the games fine, but i don;t know about the recent ones.
    the 9XXX is direct 8 card i believe :p
which means it won't really meet for requirements for "modern" games...

9000-9200 is Direct 8 but 9500-9800 fully supports Direct X 9. Radeon 9550 is just a tuned down version of the 9600XT. X300 is slightly better but both cards are very outdated by today's standards.

Considering most x300 have crippled 64bit memory with gimmick "Hyper memory" AKA shared system memory the 9550 which is simply a slightly lower clocked 9600 is the better card.

Go with the 9550 as no doubt its a more powerful card with full 128 bit memory.

Not all x300 have a crippled 64bit interface, but always have higher core clock.

But the x300 is pci-express and the 9550 is agp, so you cannot upgrade the 9550 to the x300.
You could try sell both cards and get some 7600, or even a x1900.

Almost----they aren't Shader model 3 compatible, so they they won't run DX9 games that use it. (like Bioshock)

Are you kidding? They wouldnt run the game even if they supported shader model 3....

Both those card will struggle to even run the first Halo. Even though they are DX9 cards they are only powerful enough to run Dx8 era games.

Well with the 9550 i run games fine that use dx9 as 9550 uses dx9 in its card. I play many games like roller coaster tycoon 3 and the movies which dont use alot of good graphical stuff but still id like to know which one would make them run/look better so on and so forth. I do know as a fact that rct3 does work alot better with a super high graphics card and even with the 9550 it can load slow and freeze at times so yeah. But the 9550 does play dx9 games pretty well and i dont plan on really using any hardcore games like bioshock and stuff but bioshock can be played using the 9550 i know that much. Also i have got the 9550 to update even if its a pci card or whatever its called. I want to thank you for your help guys if you have any more suggestions on which ones r better go ahead and keep posting lol id love to hear as im going more towards the x300 but it sounds like there both good :D
