I've got the x700 (64MB) in my lappie, and recently I noticed that it seems underclocked. A check in Everest displays the original speeds to be 358:330, however it seems to be set to 280:290... From what I can remember I haven't altered these settings in any way... Or is my gpu throttling itself? Would be cool to know since I also think I got a slight performance dip a couple of days ago when playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Oblivion.

yeah, thx, I have done that, however ATT seems to be an incredible CPU hog, and I dont want that running in the backgroung all the time. But should my gpu be throttling itself or is there a way to "reset" it? Have checked BIOS, theres nothing there.

are you playing of the battery? if you are, check your powerplay settings...if not, then get tray tools and see if you can "overclock" to stock settings..(you may also have something that determines the load on the gpu and will set the speeds for it..doesnt sound likely though..

    hope this helps,

    pb,out.

Yeup, pbcustom has it right on. It's probably powerplay at work, OR, your 64mb version has lower default core/mem speeds, unless you've had it at those higher speeds before.

Yeah has to be Powerplay at work. Just go into your Ati display properties, control panel or ccc, whichever you are using and go into Powerplay and make sure it's set at Optimal performance.

Those clock speeds are correct for an x700. Theres no problems.

Really? I thought my 64MB x700 was clocked lower than others at 351/330.

The stock for the X700 is 350:330, but since you are getting clocks of 280:290, that's because of PowerPlay as previously noted. Turn the settings to maximum performance.

I'm clocked down due to power play right now and those are my exact numbers.

There you go, twilightVampire just confirmed it for you. His clocks are the same as yours and he is clocked down by powerplay.

Just go into PowerPlay and set everything to Optimal Performance on whichever powermode you want full power.
