You probably have done it,but just checking:Are you running it in administrator mode?

Right click on Ati Tool and select 'Run as administrator'.

    Otherwise try reinstalling Ati Tool.

That's the one I've used (.27 b4) since it's the only one to register the HD2600.

I came upon this topic a while ago searching for this exact issue. Thanks. I've downloaded the file and it is now installed. Now, my question is how do I go about setting this up correctly? Is there a specific procedure I have to follow to setup up my system? Where do I start. This is my first time trying to over clock my system.

To give it a try I just pressed the Find MAX Mem. Now it is doing a countdown of some sort...'heat up phase - 25 sec or so.' Have no idea what this means.. How long does it take to over clock my system using this ATI Tool?

I would add 120 mhz to the core clock and memory clock, anything more is likely to be unstable. You should run 3dmark05 after overclocking and let us know if the 2600xt breaks the 10000 barrier, would be interesting to know how it compares to other cards when overclocked. :)

Ok, thanks but I would appreciate a guide or some steps to tell me in which order I am suppose to follow. Any links to guides for this particular tool? I would lov eto tell you how it fares with a 3D mark but if I do not understand the procedures it would make no sense to me ;)

Can someone please tell me how to set this up? I typed in some numbers but it just resorted back to the default numbers.

forget about ati tray tools or ati tool, they kinda suck. Use AMD gpu tool below
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/536a/AMDGPUClockTool_v0.7.zip

    download and unzip.

you should see too sliders when u open it, raise the core clock 120 mhz higher than standard and raise the memory clock 150 higher than standard, or as close as it will let you go. The screen should go all white for a min or two, but just let it come back after a couple mins instead of rebooting. It's just the display drivers locking up. run 3dmark05 because it is a better comparison than 3dmark06 for med end graphics cards, and is run at default settings on most computers fine, and the results can actually be proven and posted on futuremarks website.

Your card should get a 3dmark05 score above 9000 stock, and roughly 12 000 overclocked. I really want to see the results because not very many people own the hd2600xt. good luck overclocking and let me know your results asap. if you need further information just pm me.

Thank you. I'll post my findings. If I have any problems, I'll let you know. Thanks for your time. Just for your info. I read that only ati tool can overclock ati cards...apparently, judging by what you just mention, it is not true. Thanks.

Try AMD GPU Clock Tool v.7. I noticed that the newest one doesn't work with my HD2600 but this version does.

Each GPU has its own limit.
By the furry box, you mean yellow flashes? If so, that's BAD, stop OCing immediately and (it seems you don't know much about OCing) look at a proper guide to OCing.

Ok thanks, others stop at 600mhz||500mhz usually at this card so i stay at 650mhz 510mhz , i tested at ati tool everything seems fine on this setup, and the heat is between 50-60 after 2-3hours gaming , thats okay ?
my card can handle this no ? because i dont want to kill him :)

and really thanks for helping :)

Yeah, those temps are good, once you get up to about 80C I'd start to worry about cooling (my ATI also runs incredibly cool).
Depending on how risky/smart you are, you could try pushing your GPU further, mine hits (includes safety MHz) 725 core, 425 mem, but I only OC if I ever need the power in a game, and then I'll always drop the clocks once I'm done.
