Does anyone have this? I was looking at one at best buy today and noticed that the box advertized that it would give me smoother gameplay. Is this true?

It'll take a little load off your CPU... but don't expect a drastic performance increase.

I don't see how a video card could improve your gameplay.... I do , however, believe it will make your gameplay more enjoyable if you have the proper speakers (5.1, 7.1, etc.).

You mean a sound card cooldude :D

As john said - normally, the CPU would handle the sound if your sound was integrated. With an external device to handle that, the CPU no longer has to worry about it.

You get better special effects and qualiy with a sound card as well.

Like said, a dedicated sound card takes the sound processing load off the CPU, so you can get a few FPS more. Not much in most cases. It can improve the sound, even without surround speakers, by outputting a cleaner and stronger signal than most onboard codecs.
