My son just got an Everex XT5000T and has been pleased with how it is running except it has crashed twice playing Black and White 2. It runs great for about 30-40 minutes and then the screen goes black and the computer locks up. He has to turn it off with the power button.

Is this a Vista issue? Is it a video driver issue with the Go 7600 GPU? Is it some hardware issue with the Everex computer? How does one determine this?

Anyone out there playing Black and White 2 on Vista? I know it is an old game, but my son's old computer would never run it due to a crappy GPU, and this would be the first chance he has had to play it. (He has not tried any other games)

According to extremetech.com, B+W 2 is a game that runs on Vista. Is any one else playing that game on Vista?

Does this sound like a hardware issue?

Sounds like a hardware or driver issue. You have to reset the computer by pressing the powerbutton? can't do crt. alt. del or crt. alt. esc.?

Correct. The computer has a black screen and is unresponsive to input when it crashes.

I asked him if it ran any other games and he said they were "all played out". He missed the point completely, methinks.

His ma chased him off the phone about then, and tends to jerk us around during situations like this, so that adds a complication. So I do not know if it will run other games. My plan is to have him run the most demanding game he has and see if it still crashes. If I had access to the computer, I would try these things myself and just return it to office max and try a different unit if the driver downloads didn't work. There should be time for that, even with the obstruction.

I was just wondering if any other Everex users had this problem. Maybe I will try asking about this on the Everex forum.
