Although CPU doesn't make much difference (but does make some...), it looks like the X4500 completely decimates the X3100 and is on par with the 8400M G right now. Finished drivers are supposed to double (but that's being a little optimistic) performance, to ultimately beat the 8400M GS! Things are getting interesting... I'd wish for them to throw in the 8400M GT, 9300M G, GS, 9400M GS, and HD 3450 as comparison when they release the X4500 and maybe use the X9100 to downclock so that the CPU speeds are the same.

edit: oh and include power consumption numbers!

And the 790g seems to outperform the x4500, going on par with the 8400gs

Problem though is that Intel rarely does significant driver updates to get more performance out of their IGP. If they committed to a more regular driver update, I might be interested.

Nonetheless, not a bad thing..for an IGP to be on par with an entry level dedicated card.

Nice. Could be a real kicker in the ultraportables.

Are these just incremental till they move to the fusion design that is supposed to offer 10x peformance compared to the x3100? Or am I missing something...this is more like 1.5x.

It is what they promised by 2010 I believe, in an integrated form. Looks like they have their work cut out for them. ATI and Nvidia both have more effective solutions.
