Damn thing, it just wont work.

    Dell 6400
    Intel core 2 duo 1.6ghz
    Ati X1300
    120gig hd
    1gig RAM
    15.4 " 1280x800
    Vists Home Premium

Installs fine, go to run game, it loads the splash screen, and then

    bf2124.exe has stopped working

Tried running as admin, and using compatibility mode, but still the same.

When I run in XP mode, it asks me to insert the disk, of course the disks in :(

    Any one know a fix?

I run BF 2142 just fine on my system (sig). If I were you I would reinstall it.

Did you upgrade to Vista or buy a new comp with Vista on it?

Update, still can't get it to work on Vista, but dual booted into XP and it runs ok, it's really bloody annoying   I'm not sure whether to blame EA or Gaysoft

:( I feel silly using XP Pro, I know it has all the functionality and everything works, but it feels backwards?

That's odd that it does not work. I don't have the game, but all the games I have run under Vista work fine.

Which drivers are you using? Try the Catalyst 7.2 drivers, they can be downloaded off of ATI's site:

I know what you mean...having vista it looks and feels cool. you want the latest and so do I....but the best option i reckon is to revert back to xp for games until they sort it out...besides its cool to dual boot :)

I can feel your pain on the urge to have the latest and greatest but I personally figure it isnt worth the pain till all the major bugs are ironed out of vista before i touch it. I might think about getting it when they release SP1 for it.

I don't have 2142 but I know Battlefield 2 have some files in My Documents

You should try delete the files on

    C:\My Documents\Battlefield 2142

Just create a folder and dump the stuff in there.

This may be late, but I've just found a solution to this problem. I have the same problem with "bf2142 has stopped working." What I did was to rename the Battlefield 2142 folder in My Documents to a different one. Then start the game. It should make a new bf2142 folder and load the game. If you're successful in doing so, you can just move your profile to the newly created folder and enjoy.
