    Hey everyone,
I just bought Battlefield 2142 and decided to update the drivers for my integrated ATI Xpress X1100 (128MB shared) graphics. Yes, I know its not one of the supported graphic solutions for this game, but hey it works fine at low settings. I posted a thread a while back which included my thoughts and some screenshots after player the demo using integrated graphics. I plan to get a better system to play this in the future. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=83082

Anway, back to the topic; after installing the ATI Catalyst 7.12 igp drivers, I cannot seem to play the game in widescreen - meaning that there are two vertical black bars on either side of the screen. I know this happened to me back when I installed halo, but I cant seem to remember how I fixed this problem. It worked fine in fullscreen before I updated. Should I rollback the driver to the one I had previously installed, or is there a quick fix to this? Thanks for the help.

Well since no one has replied, I restored the driver to the one I had previously installed. The game displays in widescreen set at 1024x768 now, but Im still curious how to get it to work with the latest ccc installed...

By selecting widescreen, you're basically just stretching out the image since the game does not support native widescreen. It'll be the same as selecting the native 4:3, unless you were playing in windowed mode.

I also remember BF2 and BF2142 not supporting native widescreen, there were hacks to get around it but that is stretching.

Anyways, go under the Catalyst Control Center and make sure its set to "Advanced". Then you'll want to hit Digital Panel and Attributes. Set Image Scaling to "Scale Image to Full Panel Size".

That should work on every game out there. But BF sometimes isn't an ordinary game, so you may need to look it up on the BF forums if you still have problems.

Thanks so much; it was deceivingly simple - just had to check the 'use fullscreen box' haha. Ive never used the ccc before....

ATI drivers just keep sucking more and more with each release.

Try Omega 7.12 drivers, they are quite a bit better than ATI's stuff.
