I finally get my laptop back from repair, and when I try to log into BF2 I get the message "The server has refused your connection"

Is there something wrong with my setup or is it an EA server problem?

Its probably a problem with the EA servers since you are having troubles logging in to your account. I had the same problem earlier(yesterday) and it is usually fixed in a couple of hours so try again.

But i also recommend keeping your punkbuster updated to prevent problems in game servers like being kicked by pb and/or lag. Use PBsetup and update it manually before starting the Bf2.

Ok...updated punkbuster, reinstalled, and still doesn't work :(

Maybe my connection settings? But I don't remember changing anything. Firewall is down. I have a linksys router. But its never caused a problem before

Try connected directly to the modem. If you know how to open ports on your router i suggest that you try that too(search for Bf2 ports in google). When you reinstalled the game did you use a full patch to get the V1.4 or incremental patches(problem could be caused by a bad patch so you might want to dl a new one from a diff site)?

You might also want to try a manual uninstall of BF2.

http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=43130-editing the registry can be harmful so make a backup of the registry(file-export)

Yeah, i installed patch 1.41 which I had before it stopped working. For some reason, as of last night, Comcast and my computer don't get along anymore. I only get limited connectivity with wireless and connected directly into the modem. So...I gotta get that fixed first and then i'll try to open ports, which is what i was GOING to do before comcast issue.

Thanks for all the help. I'll PM you when I get an update later today.
