I know this is an older game now but some co workers and I decided to start playing BF2 on the LAN.I did some research on the web about possible fixes and culprits for this CTD error when trying to join a game but I still havent found a clear solution.

Single player runs fine and everything but for some reason everytime someone pressed join on a Local game map the game crashes back to the desktop.
We can multiplay 1942 and Vietnam and Desert Combat versions just fine!

Its not the 59hz refresh problem because we can all run the game now and the guys with that problem I went into the video.con file and fixed it for them.

Ive read something about a CD key registry check, but seriously will all 9 of us really have to buy a seperate copy of the game to run a local multiplayer game??

    Is it a vista problem?

Was this problem solved years ago with a patch or something..or is it still an unsloved case and should we just not even bother with this older bug and error filled game anymore.

Its an awesome game though and old enough that everyone heres laptop and comfortably run it at max settings...we were thinking COD4 or COD5 but some of my co workers don't have the hardware requirements to run those.
