Alright well I know I will hear "Your specs aren't good enough" but hear me out.

I use to play BF2 fine, I wouldn't get much lag and it was definetley playable at the lowest settings. I am on a desktop.

    Specs:
    P4 1.5 GHZ
    384 mb RD ram
    Radeon 9600 AGP4x with 128 mb ram

Like I said, I use to play it fine. Now it is getting extremely laggy after i reinstalled and updated. What are some things I can do to optimize the game? I downloaded the omega drivers, however I tried to overclock but I don't know how far I can OC without messing up my computer. I don't want to fry anything because this is the "home computer" So what do you guys recommend in terms of trying to get this game to run as smooth as possible. I obviously don't care about eye candy, I just want to be able to run it. Tips in any way would be helpful. I've already reduced as many processes as possible.

You're in a tough position. The easy answer would of been upgrade the RAM there is just too little. I find even older games than that struggle to run flawlessy on 512mb, 1GB is preferred. The problem is RD-RAM is so expensive and its probably difficult to find as well.

Can you install an older OS? If its winXP you're using it hogs up a lot of RAM so very little is left for gaming.

384MB is RAM is very little, especially if you plan to play games. I'd up it to 1GB+, or, just use your laptop for gaming.

What did you do?? I have been having issues lately myself (with an m1710 no less), but I think most of the problems are related to the new patch. Would be good to hear how you solved the problem though!!

Well, I basically uninstalled then reinstalled. Downloaded the Omega drivers, OC'ed a little bit. Downloaded the Patch ( I think it's the latest one ) and now it works.
