Hi all ,
I get random crashes during game play and sometimes when I enter a server first time in the opening screen right before the kit select menu loads .
Specs :
1.6m / 1.25Ram / 6800 NO OC / 7k60 / wxga .
Also anyone managed to get native res with this game , it has only 3 res settings .
If anyone got exp. playing this game on a simillar 9300 rig pliz post your opinion here .
Thanks ,
Gilo

Well...it doesn't support wide screen really...so you can't get actual native resolution.
Also...what is your native resolution? I thought there were three different screen choices on that model.
My 17" gateway gives me choices from 800x600 up to 1200x900. My native resolution is 1440x900...so it can't offer me higher than that. That's 5 total resolution choices to select from.
If it's random crashes...I'd try testing your ram first. There's a variety of command line programs out there that can stress it for you(1.25GB makes me think you added some...maybe there's a timing issue or something). Otherwise...I doubt it's a video card program if it's doing it on the opening screen. I'd try an uninstall and reinstall just to avoid wasting time on other stuff though, as it's not too difficult or time consuming. -
for the resolution issue; change your command line to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
As for the random crashing: I would say your best bet would be just to uninstall it COMPLETELY ( after you uninstall bf2 do a search on your hard drive to see if any bf2 related files are still in your programs file or my documents file, if they are delete them ) then reinstall it. I have had some trouble with bf2 in the past ( when you join ANY server it would crash to desktop, can't even log in to play online, game would freeze up when you try to log on , etc ) and after a clean reinstall everything worked great. My i9300 specs: 1.86, 2 gb ram, 80 gb 7200 HDD, xwga (non-glossy) -
Hi ,
Thanks for helping ,
before posting I searched for cause and thought of over heating but not sure because of the fact that it crash not always in mid game but sometimes on the start of the very first round if it pass that it will not crash on round start but might on mid game .
I accept it might be ram issue , I bought a new kingston value ram 1GB ( had 2x256 before ) maybe I'd be better of with only 1GB dimm ?
Btw those dimms have recently price dropped and I think you can get 2GB ( 2x1024) for 150$ , a good deal compared to 300$+ Dell wants for the same upgrade .
I keep an eye over the temp with I8fangui that I recommended in my review of this system here in NR .
Already tried reinstall and will try again with the new patch 1.2 .
Thanks again ,

Oh one more thing I know there is a problem with widescreen suppport ( I got the wxga ) and I tried the same command line , it would crash the game at once not even loading the open menu .

If you're getting crashes from that...I'd lean towards checking your RAM. There's some threads here on how to test it.
You need to post exactly what's happening when it crashes...exactly, nothing vague. If there's a message that appears, tell us what it is. That'll give us more clues. -
doesn't BF2 force you to install the latest version of dx9.0c on every install attempt?
If not, then try that out and reinstall that, the august version or something like that that comes on the cd.
Cheers,

here is a solution for those who randomly crash to desktop, this problem occurs when you use cracks or bad mini images, to fix this problem use this mini image for battlefield 2 and mount it with daemon tools or else, here is the download link for fixed mini image:
http://rapidshare.com/files/56592701...ge__3.zip.html
here is the link for torrent file of the fixed mini image:
http://zerotracker.com/download/76272/BF2DVD.torrent
since i used this mini image i had no further problems and never crashed to desktop again, hope this works for you too
NOTICE: before using this mini image make sure you are using the original BF2.exe and Core.dll files i suggest you to install a fresh copy of bf2.
Enjoy the game
