BF2142 Issue w/ Punkbuster

ok i installed BF2142 on my new laptop patched it and all

i can play single player just fine etc the problem only occurs online

anytime i join a game im able to play for maybe 2 min online before i get kicked from the game and get message that i was kicked by punkbuster

i have no idea why its doing this works fine on my pc just does this with my laptop when i loaded it on there

any input would be great TYI

 

Are you playing wirelessly with the laptop? It is probably your internet connection if you are using a wireless router with the laptop and not with the desktop. If my ping (latency) jumps too high punkbuster kicks me off the server when I play Fear.

did you edit or mod anything in the game?

like your FOV, and stuff?

this game is very picky about what it allows.

 

nope just installed ita nd went online didnt do anything else..

should i try uninstall/reinstalling?

 

I dont see why that would fix it since its a fresh install, obviously since we all have no clue right now it cant hurt to try.

I was going to say update PB like the person above that was my first guess, if you run an older version it kicks you and it doesnt always auto update like its supposed too.

Also if you installed the expansion pack (want to call it frozen throne from warcraft) you have to reapply the newest patch after.

I found this out the hard way when I had 2142 up to date with patches and decided to let greedy EA have 10$ of my money so I could have some new unlocks and maps (mostly because I got tired of being kicked from servers when they cycled to a map that was in the expansion)

When I installed the expansion I was getting kicked, read up on the totalbf2142 forums and found the issue was that you need to intall the update patch again after the bonus pack because it changes some of the games files.

 

That is exactly what happend to me ghostrida45. I didn't play BF2142 for a while then decided to play it again but I would get kicked out of any server with that Punkbuster message. The reason for me that is, was a "packet loss". I eventually reformated my computer since it was that time and somehow everything was fixed.

Thats kinda lame, but I guess id rather have a lame anti cheat system than have cheaters in the game.

I used to cheat in games as a kid, thing is tho. No matter how hard they try to make it, they always find a way every time so usually going too far usually only hurts average joe in ways like the OP but the cheaters still get to use there little cheats in the end.

I mean they have server emulation programs out there so you can emulate say a game guard server and fool the anti cheat program into thinking your up to date but be using the orignial version of the prog with no protection.

Just for the sake of trying out things when I first got the game I tried to "hack" it abit and it only took me 40 seconds to give myself infinity ammo. the method I used to do so I do not belive would be detected by PB.
