You mean the diamond above the head? All you have to do is 'Q' key with your crosshairs on an enemy. It stays lit even for a while when out of sight. Stays on a lot longer when they remain in sight. I also miss BF2 ability to call for a medic or support instead of having to target that specific class soldier in the game. That's just stupid. I know as a medic and support it shows health bars and such, but you should be able to call out for a medic at any time.

It is yet another dumbed down console one button for many functions issue. Instead of getting an F key menu like in the original BF games, we get one button that quite frankly does whatever the hell it wants to. I can't count the number of times that I am trying to spot an enemy and instead call some assault guy 100 meters away for ammo, despite the fact that I have full ammo. It also seems to spot completely at random, so the basic strategy is hit q randomly to detect hidden enemies that you would not otherwise be able to see (which is pretty lame).

I am guilty of this. -
My Q button has never worked for some reason. I thought maybe it was disabled server side.
-
It randomly doesn't work; I suspect it has some sort of "cool down" function to reduce the Q button spam that we are all guilty of.
-
Wow, you guys really complain a lot. Spotting works like the repair tool. Basically it generates "heat" every time you use it, and it cools down at a consistent rate. Push it too much in a short period of time and it'll "overheat", which means you have to wait 5 seconds to use it again.
-
-
Does this "overheating/cooldown" feature apply to hit detection also?
-
here's a great video on weapons damage, so we know when the enemy should die even after 15 bullets has entered him
YouTube - BFBC2 Weapons Guide - Assault Rifles
how are you supposed to embed a video? I can't do it anymore? -
here's a detailed weapons damage chart for both BFBC2 original and Vietnam weapons.
I guess DICE made the game this way in order to make players work as a team instead of going all gung ho lone wolf style ala COD series. It does give the game a "Role Playing Game" element, but still, it's horrible hit detection to me.
Bad Company 2 | DenKirson on Xanga -
Don't know what they did, but after the server maintenance EA performed, hit detection seems to be way better! I'm getting alot of kills now, and knowing the damage of weapons really helps to make this game an awesome tactical and strategic experience.
EA must've been reading alot of my complaints on other forums as well, and I'm guessing that prompted them to do a "stat maintenance", but I guess they also did lag and hit detection behind the scenes.
Now hardcore just feels right, and the normal game is alot more fair and fun. -
NOTHING HAS CHANGED. You have placebo'd yourself about 20 times in this thread. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I just finally unlocked everything for the kits. Woot. -
LOL, well if only someone explained the hit damage in the first place there would be no whining. I'm still level 28, but I'm getting . Anyway check out this guy's video.
YouTube - xStreetSurferxV2's Channel
I don't know how the hell you can do this without using some kinda cheat.
But it's wicked! -
I dunno. It does seem a bit better, after I did that netsh trick. But it could be placebo. Things still seem a little off though here and there. Hand grenade at someone's feet and they walk away with little to no damage.
-
They only did maintenance on the stats database as far as i know. A patch would be needed to fix in-game bugs.

And the 8 hits to kill a guy, well remember the 2 bank robbers with body armor and AK 47s? here's the vid.

Well I did both the netsh command:

and also the network throttling:

I had a bad game today. Seems my gun was filled with rubber bullets. I was doing reasonably well, had like 20 kills and 17 deaths I think. Next thing I know I've been killed ten times in a row without a single kill, despite filling the enemy's face with bullets. I just rage quit and cried. -

So yeah, those of you guys who turned off IPv6 might want to turn it on again...
Net powers: IPv4 is over. All hail IPv6! | Deep Tech - CNET News -
Well existing networks will remain v4, newer networks will start with v6, but ISP's need to make the conversion as well. Not to mention routers and modems needing to understand and translate v6 protocol. There's going to be hiccups and doubt it will be seamless. Unless your ISP has announced the transition, then you have nothing to worry about for the time being.
-
Everything is going to stay IPv4 for a while. There's too much infrastructure to say "OK, everyone switch". We're just going to abuse NAT and whatnot to squeeze everyone in.
-
Ok, I've been playing quite a bit of BFBC2 again lately. Problem is that for the last week, hit detection has been good, but my ping was like 70-75 on a couple servers and had much > 1 K/D ratios. Now today, ping is like 110-120 and getting 4 kills to 20 deaths. Bullets to face, rockets into someone's gut, grenade at people's feet and they keep on coming with little to no damage. That is where it gets frustrating and no longer fun.
Not to mention how many people keep getting banned due to using bots still. -
I really don't find it a problem anymore. After the maintenance with the added server hardware to accommodate the growing community, and knowing about hit damage, I'm now a terror on the battlefield, assault being my preferred class.
The only thing that bothers me now is tweaking my minimum framerates to stay above 30 fps, without sacrificing graphical settings. Besides upgrading hardware, I believe a mild GPU overclock would make this game perfect on my system, but I'm just worried about the consequences of doing so... -
I find that hit detection has been especially bad lately. I mostly notice it when sniping. The other day I shot someone twice in a row, saw blood, but got no hit. I hit them the third time, but they found cover before I could kill them (basically robbing me of a kill, since 2 torso shots SHOULD have killed him). This has happened to me at least a half dozen times in the past week, and it really is starting to get annoying. It seems to be the worst when I am shooting a moving target; I am definitely hitting them, but for some reason the game just decides to ignore the hit.
-
Snipers are pretty spot on. I can M95 or GOL marksman snipe enemies from the other side of the map. They have no chance of seeing it coming lol.
-
Same what mjolner says, and that's why I hate the sniper class. I don't know how people can just kill with one shot, and even on the huge maps, it's hard to determine how to compensate for the bullet drop. I use up all my ammo just trying to hit the guy even when he's dead center in the bulls eye. Right now that's the only class where I get hit detection probs.
-
Other times I will hit a moving target in the head and the kill won't show up until 2-3 seconds later for some reason, but I am not entirely sure this is related to the hit detection issue. -
I mainly only use recon class when another sniper is ticking me off by sniping people and in an obscure location. But idiots don't learn, so he stays there and I just mortar him. Problem solved, back to engineer or assault, thank you.
I've tried playing hard core, and I think I would like it better if I could communicate with my entire TEAM and not just squad which is hard enough. Too many TK's. -
People who are parachuting down are the most fun to kill. Ive managed to kill a few chopper pilots while they are flying. Its funny cause their body literally fly out of the chopper and who evers in the gunner seat die from the crash.
Snipers have an advantage in hardcore because theres no killcam meaning you cant see who killed you and where he is nesting. -
-
I own snipers and humiliate them when i kill them with my M1 all the time. I'm PRO with the M1 its such an amazing rifle once you learn how to use it effectively. It's the only rifle i use in the game.
I always play hardcore i cant stand the regular mode. -
It really amazes me how bad snipers are in general; it just seems like most of them aren't paying attention. When i am sniping i can usually find enemy snipers fairly quickly and kill them in one or two shots, but for some reason they rarely ever find and kill me first. It isn't that i am particularly good at hiding; they just seem to be sleeping on the job. -
When i comes to snipers in the game they think that a rock , hill or building etc. is going to camuflauge them, but it may provide defilade and concelament. The dont realize that it is un natural for a rock to have a head or something stick out. The good ones use the brush and other natural places that takes adavatage of their ghillie suit. And the lack of prone is also a big reason why snipers are easy to spot. I found Its easyier to hide in the vietnam expansion because of all the vegetation and stuff, ive almost never been able to spot a sniper in vietnam expansion. -
-
The vegetation really is the best place to hide; once on laguna presa rush mode I had a whole squad of attackers walk right by me without noticing; they all walked within 1 foot of me and even had a scanner going (but those don't pick up stationary targets!). I only "hide" behind a rock when I am confident that the enemy snipers are no good, and even then I keep moving. -

Which gun do you suggest for medics for getting best results??
-
SPAS-12 with shotgun upgrade + magnum ammo. 1 hit kills from short - medium range and 2 hit kills after that.
You can even snipe with it, so aim it right and the enemy wont even get a chance to fire his gun. I nearly have a platinum star for it.
Another funny thing you can do is tracer dart someone in the body and tube him. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
In general, which rifle has the best hit?
-
shotgun snipers. quite fun to play.
-
And yeah, that magnum ammo is silly sci-fi stuff. I used the Saiga with it for a while and was sniping people too. I felt dirty for doing it. Just so wrong. -
Gah, recently I've realized something else. Maybe part of hit detection, lag, or whatever, but line of sight is completely FUBAR too. I mean I can be behind a hill and a tank or machine gun can kill me through that hill. Same thing with being completely behind a steel wall. I get shot all the time through indestructible steel walls.
Plus I can never seem to get a kill using the tank main gun. I mean I shoot right at the feet of someone and they keep on moving, and riddle them with a few machine gun bullets and just don't die.
One more thing, the more I play, the better I get, and I see that some people are either just lucky, have figured out a way to get great hit detection, or cheat up to a high level and never get caught. Because if I play the same server frequently, I see others playing there a lot, and one or two people always have like 40:5 k/d ratio. And killing them takes a miracle. I've snuck up on one, shot him in the head, dropped a grenade, ran away and they kept coming. -
maybe try gamebooster. Version 2.3 is out now and I just updated downloaded from majorgeeks |MG| Iobit Game Booster 2.3 (0303) Download
After downloading version 2.3 and installing, I ran gamebooster and I'm pleasantly surprised it now gives you the premium paid version free until january 2012.
It's a great program and I do notice a difference with it enabled and disabled using my system with an i5 and gtx 460m. with it disabled the game has a choppy lag loading a new map, with gamebooster enabled that lag is greatly reduced.
Since getting version 2.3 with the internet optimization free, I have to test that more to see what kind of benefit it gives, since version 2.2 I hardly tried using it. It might make the hit detection better if it has to do with your internet connection. -
I have 16GB of RAM, an i7-2720QM, and GTX 485m, an SSD, and an Intel 6300 wi-fi card. Levels load instantaneously, I'm usually first one on any map, and ping is usually the lowest or one of the lowest. I have fussed with different internet supposed "fixes" nothing seemed to help.

I'm officially done for a while with BFBC2. Too many frustrations again that detract from fun.
Just got off a conquest server. Was waiting near an enemy cap point. When their Bradley drove by I hopped in the one right next to me, shot the rocket out of it, direct hit to the rear, unleashed all the guns all direct hits, he turns his turret and hits me in my bradley once (in the front no less) and I die. All that after fighting my way to that point because we were getting slaughtered everywhere else, so figured it would be lightly defended. Guess it didn't matter. So ticked.
