I just played 3 rounds of BFBC2 since it's been a while. Game really looks amazing still. Dx11 and AMD optimizations look great. The problem I remembered very quickly .. Well.. the crap hit detection. I had more than 11 times where I unload into someones back and NADA. Then they spin around and one shoot me.
This happens RARELY in homefront unless it's a hacker. When I shoot someone, most of the time they die.
So .. My hopes for BF3 is that they learn, once again, that simple, basic, intro, part to coding/programming...
IF / THEN
IF MY PIXEL SHOOTS YOURS, THEN YOUR BUTT NEEDS TO DIE!
So... now for another month break from bfbc2 as it's a waste of time to shoot others and they dont die.

People die for me... but I also only play on servers that are very close to me.

Ping was less than 80ms. It was fine. The hit mechanics are just not good. All the graphics in the world don't make up for it. I love this game otherwise... It's a real shame.
Hope they get it right in BF3. They real issue is that when a person is shot. They dont, slow down , or stop or anything. They just continue on what they are doing. WRONG! Hit mechanics should say when you are shot, you either slow down a lot or just flat stop. I must have unloaded 2 clips into this kid running across the map but NADA. Showed hit most of the time in my window. I will say this.. I am looking forward to BF3 as anyone. But if I buy that game and the hit detection is no better than BFBC2, I will spend days spamming their forums and getting others to not purchase until it's fixed or not buy at all... At some point, coders need to rope it in and get back to basics.

For me it's hit or miss (pun intended). I found a few servers that are consistently decent but not always so.
I've also found that at times, I'll shoot a tank with an RPG and as soon as my rocket leaves my launcher it says vehicle destroyed, enemy killed, even though the rocket is still in the air. Because of this, I believe that the second a bullet leaves its gun, the server has already determined if the opponent has been shot or not even though the bullet is supposed to have "travel time" and "bullet drop". -
-
It was supposed to include it, but sometimes I wonder. From a distance, sometimes I have to lead while other times I aim directly at the target and hit it while its moving.
-
I hate it when you gotta empty mags just to kill a single player.
The only way to actually be sure to kill is with shotguns or rpg's. -
Anyways, I've been noticing how amazingly accurate the pistols are (except for that 3 round burst one, eww). I'll go medic, with magnum ammo and the lightweight perk thing, and just sprint around headshotting people with the M9 or M1911 .45. So much fun -
I noticed this also. A sniper with M1911 will kill faster than unloading an entire clip from an assault rifle.
-
Yeah, M1911 is great. On maps heavy with tanks and helicopters I'll go engineer with tracer dart and extra rockets. Even then I find myself killing people with RPG more then my main gun (I switch that around, currently G3). Otherwise I'll go recon with M1911 and Saiga with slugs. I can usually find a dead medic or assualt class if I need to swap gear and throw out a medic or ammo pack and switch back.
-
Yup M1911 is awesome.
-
Also, I also find the M9 a lot better than the 1911 because I can fire it so much faster. Easier to get headshots off if you miss the first time. The hit detection is weird only on some servers...there's one near me even with less than 80 ping that I can't hit anything. But, every other server I have zero issues with. -
-
thats a huge turn off for the game.... that release was a huge disappointment
-
Since we're all talking about BC2, thought I'd ask a newbie question. When firing RPGs at a marked tank/heli (with a tracer dart), I'm having trouble making the little red box on the target "illuminate" so the rocket will follow its target. I assume this is the correct way to use tracers/RPGs. Any one else do something different? Am I doing it completely wrong? Give me some tips!

The target has to be within range, and then it will pulsate for a few seconds then it will lock and you will see a distance pop up at the bottom of that box. That's when you fire. If you wait too long it will disappear again.
-
Ahh alrighty, I'll try it tonight. Thanks!

does ping make a difference? my ping has been in the 200's lately and i have been experiencing a lot of hit detection problems.
the other day i unloaded a full clip from my M1 garand at an enemy 10m away at center mass and he pulled out an uzi and killed me with one shot.. Sane thing happend when i unloaded into someone with my 1911 fro 5m away.
Buch of bull crap goes on this game sometimes i cant stand it.
I also just wanted to say that snipers ruin the game, i have no respect for snipers at all period(if thats all you do in the game). I have more respect for the guy that runs out and dies 20 times in a row, at least he has heart. I am sick and tired of spawning then getting shot in the face by some sniper. sitting back behind the lines with a high power scope that gets you kills does not make you good. I mean they can be helpfull, but 90% of the time they are hurting the team. I lost count of how many times i have lost a game becuase the team was full of snipers. I am not talking about the real military snipers, they are a different story and i have much respect for them and the stuff they go through.
I wish there was a stat that says what gun type you have been killed by the most. for me it would say Sniper Rifle or rpg. -
Squads full of snipes are a real PITA, lemme tell you....
However, snipers do have their place in BC2. While most other games, you would be correct (cheap noobs), in BC2 things are pretty different for the sniper. For one, you have to account for ballistic drop (something which I haven't found in other shooters yet, iirc), so it does take some skill to figure out where to aim. Also, snipers in BC2 are important in that they can provide awesome recon, plus the mortor strike is pretty amazing when clearing out a building or a field. The BC2 sniper class is a little closer to real sniping than in any other game.
That said, there are times where players simply should ignore said class. If you're attacking a MCOM station, please don't spawn as a sniper -.-. The motion sensors are awesome in defense though, so I tend to snipe whenever I'm defending a MCOM or flag. I'm not afraid to go out and meet an enemy face-to-face though; favorite weapon for that is either the AN-94 w/4x, M249, or G3 (when attacking a MCOM with C4).Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Ping definitely affects gameplay. I usually play on servers where mine is < 150, preferably < 100. Anything more and it's a crapshoot.
Regarding snipers or "recon" class. They do have their use. But not always with a sniper rifle. I will choose recon class fairly frequently with a saiga shotgun with slugs, along with an M1911, and mortar strike and motion detectors to support the team.
People tend to use the mortar strike like an offensive weapon. It's not, it's defensive. I use it when we're pinned down. I like it because the idiots that keep killing us stay in the same spot so I just mortar strike the four or five guys hanging around the same spot all the time and kill at least 2-3 of them. Same thing with taking out snipers in a distant location that's hard to reach by foot. Even if it doesn't kill them, it at least scatters them.
