Hello all.
Apologies if this has already been posted and discussed earlier, but I had to ask if anyone out there has
gotten and installed the new BIOS updates for their Sager laptops recently, or since they have been out.
I have the 9150 from last year, and saw that there are newer BIOS update files available for it and want to know what
anyone thought of them.
My question that I need to ask before I proceed with this is, has anyone upgraded their BIOS, and did they encounter any problems with it?
Did upgrading make any differences at all to their machines in terms of performance, battery life or gameplay?
Are these only for Win8 machines, or can I install them to Win7 machines as well?
Does it make a difference either way?
Since Sager didn't tell me anything along these lines, I have to ask you guys what you know about these BIOS update files.
I don't want to needlessly run the risk of bricking my 9150 if I don't have to, if these new BIOS updates are not really worth updating to.
Thanks for whatever info you can give me on this.
Much appreciated.
Please let me know before I go ahead and do this.

1). This is the gaming/graphics card forum.
2). There is a forum for Clevo/Sager
3). There is a gigantic thread dedicated to BIOS updates in Clevo/Sager forum
4). Sager tech support by email or by phone answer all your questions.
5). Sager's resellers all answer questions regarding BIOS
6). You probably should do any 3, 4, or 5. -

Gee, thanks for the snarky answer that didn't really answer my questions.
1 & 2) Yes, I am well aware of this, and since I own a Sager, that is why I am asking about it where I could get some half-way decent answers that could
answer my question.
3) If I had known that, and could find out where it was, I wouldn't be asking about this in the first place, but thanks for pointing that out Captain Obvious...
4) Sager didn't answer my questions about this, but only sent me the zip files for it. Their customer service people aren't the best at answering questions
like this,
5) Sager's resellers don't advise anything to be done to their products, outside of their repetitive company responses, and therefore are a waste of time,
for the most part.
Since they are still suggesting using only their support driver downloads FROM LAST YEAR, then they aren't much better than anyone else.
That is why I came here to find out the answers, but obviously, I am not going to get any here from you.
(see answer #3)
6) Not an answer, but thanks for playing anyways. You've been a big help...

- You're welcome
1 & 2) Yes, I am well aware of this, and since I own a Sager, that is why I am asking about it where I could get some half-way decent answers that could answer my question.
- Then you should have read the STICKED GIANT thread in the Clevo/Sager forum for BIOS.
3) If I had known that, and could find out where it was, I wouldn't be asking about this in the first place, but thanks for pointing that out Captain Obvious...
- It was so obvious, yet you didn't read it. All your questions are answered there, repeatedly, over and over, many times over. Not only that, there are clear instructions on how to flash BIOS, what tools to use and even links to the BIOS themselves. And of course clearly stated, and if you spoke with any Sager reps, brick your machine with BIOS flash, 100% your fault.
4) Sager didn't answer my questions about this, but only sent me the zip files for it. Their customer service people aren't the best at answering questions like this,
- Sager are excellent at answering questions like this. In fact, no one knows more about their BIOS than Sager does, Sager BIOS are not the same as the stock Clevo. And I've asked, and they have answered, promptly. Also there are plenty of folks who make it known they are also knowledgable about Clevo/Sager BIOS whom you could have PM'd if you had read the obvious solution, reading the huge stickied thread in the forum dedicated for Sager/Clevo.
- And if you really did ask Sager support, they would have told they have two EC versions and provide you the correct one depending on if you have Windows 7 or 8. How do I know? Cause I've actually asked. Answered all the questions I had. Wasn't hard.
5) Sager's resellers don't advise anything to be done to their products, outside of their repetitive company responses, and therefore are a waste of time, for the most part. - Sager resellers have top notch customer service, regardless if you are their customer or not. I've asked them all questions and they were all happy to answer. In fact, even non-Sager Clevo builders have been patient with me when I had questions for them also, regarding BIOS, fan issues etc. And they do not suggest using BIOS from last year, they suggest getting the latest from Sager, which is the correct suggestion.
6) Not an answer, but thanks for playing anyways. You've been a big help...
- I think I was great help, you're welcome. If you DID any of the things I suggested, you wouldn't be posting mad faces. But seems to me, you didn't actually do what I suggested, and made assumptions about Sager and their resellers.
- That I have issue with since Sager resellers don't build Sager, they are resellers, occasionally they will do an upgrade not offered directly from Sager, but overall, their business is providing top notch customer service. -
I understand the frustration that the search function of Forum doesn't work. What I do before posting threads is to search in Google to find a similar thread.

Again, your obvious sarcasm and snarky responses to a valid and genuine question weren't and aren't appreciated, and also spent a great deal of time to point out
something that could have been responded in a more ADULT and civilized way.
Congrats to you on that. You win of the year award.
Unlike you, I DON'T spend a lot of time on this board, and haven't been here for long, and you COULD have offered helpful advice to me and others in stating that my
answer(s) are to be found (here) or (there) within this forum wherever they might have been located in within whatever thread.
You might have done the ADULT thing and pointed that out, but since you failed to do so, that is on YOU, and not me.
For future reference, please don't waste time our responding to posts of mine and others if you have no intentions of offering anything substantive or value.
It's a big waste of time.
If you don't like what we post, then don't respond.
It's that simple.
Oh, and one other thing- YES, I did actually happen to communicate these concerns that I have with updating my BIOS with Sager and their Technical Support staff BEFORE posting here, and they were really of no help. They were vague and unknowledgeable about the possible benefits of this update, outside of what others were posting here about improved battery life, which is what I really wanted to know from the beginning of my post and question. I wanted to get someone else's experience and knowledge on the subject that THEY MAY NOT KNOW.
Even the Tech support people there are not experts, and neither are the C.S people who are simply answer phones for whatever resellers out there, who direct calls and act they know these things because they don't.
That is why I posted this here on this board, in an effort to get more detailed info from other sources to gauge whether or not to attempt this on my Sager.
But, I guess that was beyond your understanding and ability to figure that out on your own, so you resort to being an .
So any assertions and comments you make otherwise about my question(s) is/are just ignorant and pointless.
