Well i keep getting it on my brand new Sager NP5791. I purchased it from Xoticpc. I have only found it to happen when playing WoW as of now. I tried to move Oblivion from my old Dell Inspiron 8600 but can't get it to work. I really want to see if it's gaming or just WoW. I think it has to do with WoW since I never had the issue on my dell until the othe day WoW downloaded new utilities or something and then it happened on that but only once. It happens every time I run WoW on the Sager ranging from opening the program to the game running for like 10 mins. I have yet to find a fault with anything on the computer. I tried installing new drivers from LaptopVideo2go.com but I still get it. It's always the exact same error. What could help me run down the problem and get it fixed?

Sounds like an issue specific to the game . . . have you tried any other 3D games?
Could you post the error too (screenshot)? -
Can you post your Dxdiag here also?
Start>Run>Dxdiag>save all information
That might help me help you -
Here it is.. I think it may be alittle large for here though. I have no idea what any of it really means though.

DXdiag report looks fine, but like Chaz said a screenshot or detailed description of the BSoD would also help matters.
-
On another note this only is happening anywhere from trying to load up WoW. Tomorrow I am going to go out and buy Bioshock or some other game. I tried to transfer Oblivion from my other computer but can't get it to work even with the registry file and transering the other files it needs. Any advice on a cheapish game that would work the computer like bioshock will at good settings?
-
How do you get a screenshot when it's dumping the physical memory to disk?
-
Also I've been browsing all day on the internet trying to figure out different ways to find out whats wrong and every test I try returns that nothing is wrong. This last one did a corrupted error report to microsoft.com but i'm still thinking it's just the game. I wish there was a way to prove it was the game.

Here is the description for the last 3.

Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 bab38d70, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.
They are all exactly the same like that. Thanks for the tip on the demo. I'll def do that instead. -
I really expected the Core 2 Duo to run the computer faster than my old Dell Inspiron 8600 with it's 1.7GHz Single core celeronM or whatever it has. Then again a really computer oriented guy helped to optimize the Dell for me while this is just straight from purchase. I really wish I stayed into computers back in the day when I actually was into them(about 10-15 years ago) as a little youngin. I really have no clue these days.
This new Sager really seems to lag and get stuck doing simple processes like trying to close an internet browser or switching between programs. It's driving me crazy. Maybe it will get better with age? Haha. Right.
I played the F.E.A.R. Demo but didn't see a FEAR Combat Demo. It ran smooth as butter on like max settings with everything. I just also downloaded the BioShock Demo and it auto set to pretty much everything max settings wise and it ran smooth as butter and looked great as well. No issues whatsoever. It was the hottest the GPU has gotten so far since I've done anything though. It got up to 59C. As I said before it ran great. So no issues with FEAR or BioShock. That makes me think the issue is with WoW. Maybe some corrupt files or just the game in general.
It's weird though because it can hit the BSOD anywhere from the login screen after 3 hours on no issue gameplay on max settings. It's insane. I know on anothor tech forum online somewhere their issue with the BSOD and WoW was their modem. They ended up getting a new modem after not finding anything wrong with their laptop and have not had the problem since. This isn't where I actually live but my parents house as I'm home for the holidays. Maybe it's just their modem/internet. It did happen at the airport as well though on my dell before I got here and got my new Sager. I guess I may just have to wait till I get home to Alaska to see if I have the issue there but what will suck is if it won't work. I'm leaving my old dell here for them since they don't have a decent computer and my stepdad wants to play a flight sim game that won't work on his work laptop. So I've got no backup....haha. -
Have you tried testing if the system RAM is faulty? That might explain some of the problems you've been having. Look up the memtest86+ program on this forum for help on how to proceed.
-
I didn't use memtest86+ but i did use a memory tester that I downloaded from microsofts website. I made a boot disk with it and it tested everything and it all passed. I'll download memtest now and check that out though. I don't see how that would be the problem when I have yet to run into this problem with anything else though. I wish there was a way to prove it was the game.
Edit: Alright. Well I just used memtest86 v3.4. I've decided it is now not the game and more than likely something with my RAM.
It was testing. It gave results like
Lowest Error Value: 0000000000000 0.0Mb
Highest Error Value: 000fffffffff 4095.9Mb
Bits in Error Mask: 0001fffc
Bits In Error: 15 Min 0 Max 19 Avg 8 7
ECC Corectable Errors: Blank
Errors Per Memory Slot: Blank
Test 0 and 1 both had 0 errors and test 2 went up to 33000 errors. Then the screen did a snakelike action and went row by row and became black.
Then just the bottom of the memtest screen came back in blue and read the same items on the left as posted above but the test results showed:
0 56
1 24
2 40
3 56
4 72
5 88
6 104
7 120
8 136
9 152
10 168
It just stayed at that screen. I hardbooted and then logged in. Right after logging in it went straight to the BSOD.
I am def starting to feel this is a RAM issue. Hopefully that will be an easy fix. I have been reading that alot of different types of ram cause issues with the Clevo M570RU/Sager NP5791. Go figure, that's what I have....haha.
Ok so I did just find memtest86+ which is v1.70 or right around there. I am about to run it with 1 module and then the other and see what happens. I'll update once I'm done.
I'm testing 1 stick at a time. I just finished the first module. I'm going to do the second alone and then test them both together. I plan on 2 passes per test.
Results for 1st stick: Walltime: ~35 minutes Pass: 2 Error: 0
Results for 2nd stick: Walltime: ~35 minutes Pass: 2 Error: 0
Now I am going to put the 2 sticks in together but in the opposite slots as they came from the factory.
So I switched the sticks from the way they came from the factory and decided to do 3 runs though.
Results for both sticks together: Walltime: ~1hr 20 minutes Pass: 3 Error:0
What is the ECC? Also I am just running it in Std mode and ECC is off. Is there anything I should do with those?
After these results I am starting to feel it being WoW again. Last night right before I had it running the longest it has on this comp(~3hrs) without a BSoD it had me download another new utility or something and I figured it to be fixed until out of nowhere it just went POOF right to the BSoD. Same exact error as before. Perhaps I should buy another game to play for awhile. As I said before neither the Demo for FEAR or BioShock did anything to the game but make the GPU alittle warmer then it gets with WoW.
AHhhhhhh. I hate issues like this....haha. -
Bump!!! Wanted to get this back to the main page. Just looking for more advice and guidance.
-
Well there are some new developments. Last night I was playing WoW for about 3.5 hrs. I figured that somehow the issue was resolved. Out of nowhere the computer restarts. I was a bit perplexed but then started playing WoW again after logging back in. After about 2 minutes of playing I get the same BSoD error message I've been getting. I gave up and went to sleep after that.
This is really starting to drive me crazy.
I was just looking at what the error reporting said on microsoft.com and I never actually read it before but it says this and I'm sure it's said the same thing every time because it's always the same error.
You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer.
So is it really a driver for something? I just recently installed the LV2G 169.04 thinking maybe it was drivers and I have been getting about 3hrs of gameplay before an issue now rather than the 20 minutes or so I was getting on the original drivers.
I was looking at another forum and someone was able to read the .dmp files from C:\WINDOWS\Minidump for another person to see what there problem was. Is anyone here capable of doing that or is it something simple I would be able to look at and see a problem with? Also there was something about a DEP thing causing it for that same person. Mine wasn't set the way it was advised but I didn't change it either. MIne was /NoExecture=OptIn but they recomended /NoExecute=AlwaysOff.
Anyone have any opinions about that? Also is there any good full system tester I could use to push this thing and see if it's that. I would really assume that this error would have come up when Xotic does their testing and QA and whatnot but if they weren't playing WoW then I guess the issue wouldn't have shown up(if it is indeed the game). -
Try to see if it's the ram slot. One of the slots might be faulty or something. This happened to me a few days ago (my friend did something). I can't use the lower ram slot anymore.
-
How could I check to see if the slot worked? Each stick memtested fine and then they tested fine together. It worked great after that...about 3.5hrs vs the 20 mins or so after but then the auto reset and then bsod hurt me. I haven't used the comp in a few days but well see how it goes tonight.
-
Try one stick in one slot, use it for a while, then try it with the other slot (same stick). Though to tell you the truth, my laptop won't boot if I use the other slot, so it's instantly noticable.
-
have u tried reinstalling WOW? cause that seems to help
try this
uninstall WOW, Delete all the foliders
then extract all the .mpq files from the CD to you hard drive from CD's 1-6 or howevermany there were, then run the installation from your hard dive instead of the CD's, note that your going to need about 6-8 gb of free hard drive space for the mpq files
but yeah just install them then go to filefront or a website download the latest all version patch and try that
note this whole process might take a few hrs -
Well the old cd's i have from the original game wont work so i would have to rebuy them and the expansion cds. I've just downloaded it all. I did uninstall and delete a few times but again i am downloading the game. That may be the issue but i wish there was a way to prove that it was the game and nothing else. Tomorrow I'm going to have someone look at it but i doubt it will get me anywhere. I will try the slot thing but i don't believe that to be it.
-
-
I'm running xp pro. I really think it's just some freak thing....although im sure there is a way to fix it.
-
Can anyone read the .dmp files? Would that provide me with any insight?
-
Well this is new. I just got the BSoD while doing a disk check before going to defrag. I think I'm just going to send it back to Xotic and have them try to figure it out. It's the same exact stop error as all the other times as well. I guess it was just random that it happened when I was playing WoW.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
did you do any other intensive things with your computer?
no other games, right?
Its possible that WoW just brought out the issue with your RAM, on account of it heavily using it compared to other apps.
Almost certainly sounds like a hardware issue and not something WoW induced...
you need to get your laptop replaced. -
I have played through the demos of FEAR and BioShock many times to try and create the issue but it never replicated. Also I played WoW for a long time yesterday without issue. Now today I go and don't even do something that I consider taxing on the computer and it gives the system error again. This time everything is the same except the 2nd parameter which was different. Checking again through the systems event logs I find alot of errors and warning that i had not seen.
Do you think i would be able to get a replacement from Xotic? I just emailed them today for the second time after the initial problem. I mentioned that the problem was happening every day and that if needed i could send it back and get a replacement for it. I don't want to return it as it is the computer i want but if this issue can't get resolved i think that is what will have to be done. Then i'll go overpay for some pos from bestbuy or something..haha.
I've heard great things about Sager and XoticPC so that's why I made this choice. Lets just hope it doesn't bite me in the ass. -
Could it be a Disk error?
-
bhd,
Found one of those expansion set trial DVDs?
They apparently have the whole game as we loaded it up to allow my friend his fix... figuring he would be limited... he wasn't as his account wasn't limited, and the trial DVD has the full WoW+expansion on it.
I bet you could borrow a friend's disks as well...
(you will still need your login/pass)
Another thing to check... since things reboot in the middle of everything... You might want to make sure you don't have a trojan/keylogger...
MMO's usually have game patchers, but do not have "utility downloaders"... It may just be your way of describing it, but it sounds fishy.
May be a dead end, but it never hurts to check. -
I'm starting to think it's a hardware issue of some sort. I've given up trying to figure it out but once I get home I'm sending it back to Xotic for them to figure out/replace. Oh well. I guess I just got lucky with my last laptop.
